The organization

RESPECTfarms is a European early-stage startup in the cellular agriculture industry with headquarters in the Netherlands. Our vision is to sustainably transform our food system by integrating the best out of the conventional and the cellular agriculture industry. We, therefore, see ourselves as system integrator. Our goal is to be the first cellular agriculture farm worldwide. In the next 18 months, we will conduct feasibility studies to find out whether producing cultivated meat decentrally (on a farm) is possible.

The role
You will be doing research on "sustainable feed for cells" in different categories.

For the concept of decentralized production of cultivated meat on a farm, the context for the production of cultivated meat changes: The question arises how and where to develop the medium for local cell cultured meat.

The role is separated into different stages where you will need different skill sets. Among other tasks, the project will require literature research, outreach to industry stakeholders, expert interviews, and reporting. You will have the unique opportunity to independently work on your own project and develop concepts and solutions.

With that, you will be integrated into a large consortium to expand your knowledge and share advances. Read more about the consortium we have formed for this project here.

Responsibilities

Writing a report on the possibilities of using cell culture media (outside the laboratory environment)
Outreach to and collaborate with experts in the field - both in academia and industry
Using both qualitative and quantitative research methods

Your profile

Background in chemistry/biology/biotechnology or a related field
Several years of experience in "feed for cells"
Ability to work independently and to organize yourself
Ability to take initiative and to challenge the status quo
