Director of Accounting, Finance and Taxes

Overview

Our client, a prominent firm renowned for its expertise in business development, strategic growth, and finance, is in search of a meticulous Tax Staff member to join their team. This role entails assisting in tax compliance, planning, and provision activities, requiring a minimum of 2 years of progressive tax preparation experience. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in accounting and is a licensed Puerto Rico tax preparer specialist. Challenges you would face

Prepare various tax returns for entities under Puerto Rico ACT 60, including C-Corps, Sole Props, Trusts, and Estates
Assist in setting up and registering Puerto Rico tax clients with relevant authorities
Respond to Puerto Rico Department of Treasury and IRS correspondence and audits for tax clients
Conduct interim tax projections, year-end closeouts, and necessary filings
Research and apply Act 60 tax advice in response to legislative changes.
Assist in updating preparation checklists, review checklists, and workflow documentation.

The ideal candidate

Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field
Minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in tax preparation
Strong knowledge of Puerto Rico tax regulations and compliance requirements
Licensed Puerto Rico tax preparer specialist, CPA preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to effectively communicate complex tax concepts to clients
Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities
Proficiency in Excel and QuickBooks Online
Self-motivated and able to work effectively with minimal supervision
Flexible schedule and availability to work additional hours as needed.

Familiarity with GAAP and tax provision calculations
Advanced proficiency in tax software
Multilingual proficiency (Spanish)
