The Lead Civil Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the civil engineering design and project management for a variety of high-profile projects within the AEC space. As a senior member of our engineering team, you will play a key role in shaping project direction, leading teams of engineers, and ensuring that all designs meet the highest technical standards, comply with regulations, and are delivered on time and within budget.

You will collaborate closely with other engineering disciplines, architects, contractors, and clients to develop efficient and innovative engineering solutions. Key Responsibilities:

Project Leadership & Management:
Lead and manage a team of civil engineers and designers throughout the project lifecycle.
Oversee the design and execution of civil engineering projects, ensuring they meet client requirements, deadlines, and budgetary constraints.
Coordinate with project managers, architects, and other engineering disciplines to integrate civil design into the overall project framework.
Manage the preparation of project proposals, cost estimates, and schedules.
Design & Technical Oversight:
Provide technical guidance and review designs for accuracy, feasibility, and compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and standards (e.g., AASHTO, IBC, local building codes).
Lead the development of civil engineering designs for site development, grading, drainage, utilities, and infrastructure systems.
Perform or oversee complex calculations for structural loads, stormwater management, and site planning.
Use software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other design tools to create and review design drawings.
Team Development & Mentorship:
Mentor junior engineers and staff, providing coaching and guidance on technical skills, professional development, and project management.
Foster a collaborative and productive team environment, ensuring the engineering team works efficiently and cohesively.
Conduct performance reviews and contribute to the hiring, training, and career development of team members.
Client & Stakeholder Communication:
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, managing relationships and ensuring client satisfaction.
Present project updates, technical solutions, and design concepts to clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders.
Ensure timely delivery of all project milestones and compliance with contract terms.
Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance:
Ensure that all civil engineering designs and projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
Oversee the preparation of permit applications, environmental impact assessments, and other necessary documentation.
Maintain high standards of quality control, reviewing designs and calculations to ensure they meet project specifications and standards.
Business Development & Strategy:
Assist in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, preparing proposals, and building relationships with potential clients.
Contribute to the growth of the firm by leveraging technical expertise to win projects and enhance the firm's reputation in the AEC sector.

Required Qualifications:

Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
LEED accreditation or other relevant certifications are a plus.
Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on design, project management, and team leadership.
Proven experience managing teams of engineers and leading the execution of complex civil engineering projects in the AEC sector.
Strong experience in the design and management of site development, grading, drainage systems, utilities, and other civil engineering infrastructure.
Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar civil engineering design software.
Project Management:
Experience managing civil engineering projects from concept through completion, including budget, schedule, and quality control.
Strong knowledge of project management principles and ability to lead cross-functional teams.
Technical Skills:
Advanced knowledge of civil engineering principles, codes, and best practices.
Familiarity with stormwater management, land development, and infrastructure design.
Strong proficiency in software tools for civil engineering design (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, HydroCAD).
Leadership & Communication:
Proven ability to lead and mentor teams, with a focus on collaboration, coaching, and professional development.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to clients, regulatory agencies, and internal teams.
Comfortable presenting and negotiating with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
