About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Civil Discipline Manager to lead and grow a dynamic, civil engineering group in our Los Angeles office. This is a fantastic opportunity for a seasoned Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with a strong background in land development and vertical construction to take on a leadership role. As the Discipline Manager, you will guide a talented team of mid-level and junior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence. You will oversee and manage a diverse range of projects, including those in healthcare, education, commercial, public, and alternative energy sectors, including large battery storage projects. This is a critical position for a proactive and hands-on leader who can provide strategic guidance to an already high-performing and highly profitable group.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management: Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of civil engineers, helping to develop their technical skills and career growth. Foster a collaborative, results-driven environment where team members are empowered to contribute to their fullest potential.
Project Oversight & Execution: Manage and oversee the execution of land development projects supporting vertical construction, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet all quality and compliance standards.
Client & Stakeholder Interaction: Serve as the main point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and project partners. Build and maintain strong relationships, providing technical expertise and guidance throughout project lifecycles.
Quality Control & Technical Oversight: Ensure the quality of work produced by the team meets company standards and adheres to industry best practices. Review engineering designs, calculations, and plans for accuracy and compliance.
Resource Planning & Allocation: Coordinate resource needs for various projects and ensure that the team is adequately staffed to meet project demands. Help identify skill gaps and plan for necessary resources and development.
Business Development: Assist in identifying new business opportunities and expanding the firm’s presence in relevant markets. Support proposal development and participate in client meetings to secure new projects.
Mentorship & Training: Actively mentor junior and mid-level engineers, promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional development. Organize training sessions and ensure the team stays current with the latest civil engineering technologies and practices.
Compliance & Safety: Ensure all projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations. Promote and uphold safety standards across all project activities.

Required Qualifications:

Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
10+ years of relevant civil engineering experience, with a focus on land development projects supporting vertical construction.
Strong experience in sectors such as healthcare, educational, commercial, public, or alternative energy projects, including large battery storage projects.
Proven experience managing and leading teams of engineers in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent knowledge of civil engineering principles, including grading, drainage, site planning, and utility design.
Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and other civil engineering design and analysis tools.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, internal teams, and other stakeholders.
