Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Fire Protection Engineer to join our engineering team. The Junior Fire Protection Engineer will support the design, analysis, and implementation of fire protection systems in various projects. This entry-level role is ideal for candidates looking to start their career in fire protection engineering and gain hands-on experience in fire safety design, building codes, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in the Design and Layout of Fire Protection Systems:
- Support senior engineers in the design of fire protection systems such as fire sprinklers, fire alarms, smoke control, and suppression systems for commercial, industrial, and residential buildings.
- Assist with the development of system layouts, equipment specifications, and drawings.
Conduct Fire Protection System Analysis:
- Perform calculations for hydraulic, water supply, and system performance.
- Analyze fire protection system designs to ensure compliance with local, state, and national codes and standards.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure fire protection designs comply with NFPA standards (National Fire Protection Association), local building codes, and other regulatory requirements.
- Assist with permitting processes and required inspections for fire protection systems.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare technical reports, design documentation, and presentations for clients, contractors, and internal teams.
- Maintain accurate records of project progress, designs, and communications.
Project Support:
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, architectural) to ensure integrated design solutions.
- Provide technical support during the construction phase of projects, including field inspections, system testing, and troubleshooting.
Research & Development:
- Stay updated with the latest fire protection technologies, industry best practices, and relevant standards.
- Support senior engineers in researching and recommending new products or technologies to improve system performance.

Qualifications:

Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
- 1-4 years of experience in fire protection engineering or a related field. Internship experience or relevant academic projects are a plus.
Knowledge/Skills:
- Familiarity with NFPA codes and standards (e.g., NFPA 13, NFPA 72, NFPA 101).
- Basic understanding of fire protection systems and their design principles.
- Proficiency with fire protection design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, HydraCAD, or similar) is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certifications:
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification is preferred but not required.
Software Proficiency:
- Experience with hydraulic calculation software or BIM (Building Information Modeling) tools is an asset.
