Position Title:

Production Technician (On-Call)

Position Summary:

The Production Technician (On-Call) is responsible for assisting the Director of Technical Production in all aspects of setup, teardown, and execution of Audiovisual (A/V) elements for production events. This role is flexible and based on the company’s needs, with the Production Technician being scheduled for events on an on-call, as-needed basis.

The position involves handling various technical aspects of events, including sound systems, lighting setups, visual presentations, and other A/V equipment. The technician ensures that the A/V components of each event operate smoothly, contributing to a seamless and professional event experience for both the client and attendees.

At times, the Production Technician may be required to run smaller events independently. In these cases, the technician will manage the A/V equipment during the event without additional staff on-site. However, the rest of the production support staff will assist with the setup, teardown, and preparation of the event to ensure the technician has everything needed to manage the event successfully.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Setup and Teardown
- Assist in the installation, configuration, and testing of A/V equipment, including sound systems, lighting rigs, projectors, and displays.
- Dismantle and safely store equipment after events, ensuring all components are properly cared for and secured.
2. Operation of A/V Equipment
- Operate audio, lighting, and video systems during live events, including adjusting sound levels, managing lighting effects, and overseeing visual presentations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in real-time to prevent disruptions during events.
- Occasionally, manage smaller events independently, taking full responsibility for A/V operations throughout the event.
3. Support for Technical Production
- Collaborate with the Director of Technical Production to ensure all technical aspects of the event meet both client specifications and Eclipse Audiovisual’s high-quality standards.
- Participate in pre-event planning and post-event debriefs as needed to improve future operations.
4. Client and Team Interaction
- Communicate effectively with clients, event planners, and other team members to ensure clarity on event requirements and technical needs.
- Work professionally and efficiently as part of a team, especially during high-pressure live events.
5. Maintenance of Equipment
- Regularly inspect and maintain A/V equipment to ensure readiness for future events.
- Report any damaged or malfunctioning equipment to the Director of Technical Production.

Skills and Qualifications:

- Experience with audio, lighting, and video equipment in a live production or event environment.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues under time constraints.
- Strong understanding of live sound reinforcement, lighting control, and visual presentation systems.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on event schedules.
- Ability to lift and move heavy equipment (50+ lbs).
- Technical certification or related experience in A/V production is preferred.

Working Conditions:

- On-Call (As-Needed) Basis: The role is not a full-time or part-time position. Work schedules are event-driven, and the Production Technician will be contacted for shifts as the need arises.
- Ability to work in various environments, including indoor and outdoor event spaces.
- Must be available for short-notice scheduling based on event requirements.
