ESG Director – Real Estate Services, New York, USA

EnableGreen is partnering with a premier real estate services company with a global footprint, known for delivering high-value asset management, property operations, and strategic real estate advisory. With a growing portfolio across commercial and residential sectors, the company is committed to driving responsible growth and integrating sustainability across its services. As part of their ongoing ESG transformation, they are seeking an experienced ESG Director to lead their environmental, social, and governance agenda across North America, with a primary focus on their New York operations.

As the ESG Director you will design, execute, and evolve a comprehensive ESG strategy aligned with the company’s real estate portfolio and client commitments. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, this senior leadership role will work closely with key internal teams, including operations, legal, investor relations, and asset management, to embed ESG principles into all aspects of the business. The role requires a balance of strategic oversight, technical expertise, and stakeholder engagement to drive measurable environmental and social outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement a comprehensive ESG strategy focused on sustainability, energy efficiency, emissions reduction, and governance practices tailored to real estate.
Work with internal teams (e.g., property management, asset management) and third-party consultants to integrate sustainability into the asset lifecycle.
Lead the collection, benchmarking, and reporting of ESG data, ensuring compliance with frameworks like GRESB, and ISSB.
Monitor ESG regulations and ensure adherence to local, state, and federal climate-related disclosure guidance and, or requirements.
Lead ESG communications and engage with tenants, investors, and stakeholders to enhance social value and support sustainability goals.
Provide ESG training to internal teams, fostering a culture of sustainability and accountability.
Oversee climate risk assessments and integrate risk mitigation strategies into business operations.

About You

Minimum 8–10 years of experience in ESG, sustainability, or corporate responsibility, preferably within the real estate or property services industry.
Strong knowledge of ESG reporting frameworks (e.g., GRI, CDP, GRESB) and ESG data tools.
Experience with building performance, green certifications (e.g., LEED, BREEAM), and climate risk assessments in a real estate context.
Degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Real Estate, Business, or related field; advanced degree or certification (e.g., CFA ESG, LEED AP) is a plus.
Proven track record of influencing senior stakeholders and managing cross-functional projects.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
An analytical mindset with the ability to transform data into insights and action plans.
Familiarity with evolving ESG regulations in the US and global real estate markets.
