We are hiring on behalf of an employee-owned, multidisciplinary MEP engineering firm based in Kansas. Known for their collaborative culture and commitment to high-quality design, the firm serves a diverse range of sectors, with a primary focus on healthcare and K-12 education.

They are currently seeking a Senior Technology Designer to join their in-office team on a full-time basis. This role is ideal for a highly experienced low-voltage systems designer who enjoys working on complex, technically demanding projects and mentoring junior staff. The successful candidate will support the firm’s growing technology group and contribute to the design and delivery of systems across a wide range of building types.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design of technology systems including structured cabling, telecommunications, audio/visual, security, paging, and nurse call systems.
Coordinate with project managers to ensure client needs, budgets, and schedules are met.
Review project documentation for accuracy and technical quality.
Collaborate with architects, MEP engineers, and external consultants to ensure coordinated design efforts.
Identify and flag scope changes that may impact fees or schedules.
Provide technical oversight, mentorship, and peer review for junior staff.
Support business development efforts by providing design guidance and contributing to proposal efforts.

Required Experience & Qualifications

Minimum 7 years of experience in technology (low voltage) systems design.
Proven experience designing systems such as:
- Structured cabling and telecom infrastructure
- Audio/Visual and overhead paging systems
- Nurse call and real-time locating systems
- Security, surveillance, and distributed antenna systems
CTS and/or RCDD certification is desirable but not essential.
Strong understanding of the construction process and multidisciplinary coordination.
Experience using BIM/Revit for low-voltage system documentation.
Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to internal and external stakeholders.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.

Preferred Skills

Familiarity with healthcare-specific systems (infant protection, OR AV, wayfinding).
Understanding of IT device support, wireless networks, and service provider provisioning.
Knowledge of system space requirements and cost implications.
Experience supporting technology scope through design, construction, and commissioning phases.
