£38,000–£40,000 Base + £6,000–£9,000 Service Charge
Potential Package £44,000–£49,000 | Accommodation & Relocation Support Available

An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a talented Sous Chef to join the kitchen team at a highly regarded Cotswolds country pub, renowned for exceptional seasonal food, outstanding produce and a genuine commitment to sustainable hospitality.

Set within one of the most desirable parts of the Cotswolds, this beautiful food-led pub champions a farm-to-fork approach, working with exceptional British produce and ingredients sourced as locally and sustainably as possible.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious Sous Chef who wants to cook seriously good food without stepping into an overly formal environment — joining a progressive kitchen where seasonality, provenance and flavour genuinely drive the menu.

The Role

Working closely with the Head Chef, you'll play a key role in the day-to-day leadership of the kitchen, taking responsibility for service, standards and the continued development of the brigade.

You'll have genuine input into seasonal menus while helping maintain a positive, organised and ambitious kitchen culture.

Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen
Leading the brigade confidently through busy services
Maintaining exceptional standards of food quality, presentation and consistency
Contributing ideas towards seasonal menu development
Working with exceptional British and locally sourced produce
Training, mentoring and developing junior chefs
Supporting ordering, stock management, portion control and waste reduction
Maintaining excellent food hygiene, allergen and Health & Safety standards
Helping drive sustainable kitchen practices and responsible sourcing
Creating a positive, collaborative environment where chefs can develop and progress

About You

We're looking for a chef who combines strong technical ability with a genuine passion for produce.

You'll ideally have:

Previous experience as a Sous Chef within a quality fresh-food kitchen
A strong restaurant, gastropub or quality hotel background
Excellent knowledge of seasonal British ingredients
Strong leadership and team-development skills
The confidence to lead service in the Head Chef's absence
Good understanding of stock, waste and kitchen cost control
A calm, organised approach to busy services
Excellent attention to detail and consistency
Genuine enthusiasm for sustainable and ethically sourced produce
A positive attitude and desire to continue progressing

The Package

£38,000–£40,000 base salary, depending on experience
Approximately £6,000–£9,000 annual service charge
Potential total earnings of £44,000–£49,000
Staff accommodation options available locally
Financial support towards relocation where appropriate
Generous staff discounts across dining, products and treatments
Subsidised private medical cover
Employer pension contribution of up to 4.5%
Life assurance
24/7 Employee Assistance Programme and mental health support
One paid volunteering day each year
Training and professional development
Genuine opportunities for progression within a growing hospitality business

Why This Role?

This is a particularly strong opportunity for a Sous Chef looking for the combination of serious food, excellent produce and Cotswolds quality of life.

With potential earnings approaching £50,000, accommodation and relocation support available, and the chance to work within a progressive kitchen built around seasonal and sustainable cooking, the overall proposition is considerably stronger than the base salary alone suggests.

For an ambitious chef who cares about where ingredients come from, enjoys contributing creatively and wants to continue developing within a quality-driven kitchen, this is an excellent next step.
