Fullstack Backend Engineer

Overview

Our client is seeking a Fullstack Backend Engineer to join as a founding team member and help reimagine ecommerce by connecting local inventory to online demand. This role involves building scalable, resilient infrastructure from day one. The ideal candidate is a pragmatic architect with strong backend experience, eager to shape core systems including APIs, databases, authentication, and integrations. This is a high-ownership opportunity in a fast-moving environment where builders thrive.

Challenges you would face

Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs from the ground up
Own and implement authentication flows, user roles, and inventory integrations
Optimize system performance, data integrity, and low latency across services
Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, observability tooling, and infrastructure architecture
Collaborate with frontend engineers to ensure smooth end-to-end integration

The ideal candidate

4–8 years of hands-on backend development experience
Expertise in modern backend languages such as Node.js, Go, or Python
Strong experience with relational databases, especially PostgreSQL
Knowledge of cloud services, containerization, and serverless infrastructure
Problem-solver mindset with the ability to iterate quickly under uncertainty
Systems thinker who can balance long-term scalability with rapid product delivery
Fluent in English

Plus

Experience with ecommerce backend systems
Familiarity with external API integrations and plugin development
Knowledge of event-driven architecture, including Kafka or Pub/Sub
