As the Customs Entry Clerk, you will be responsible for all customs clearance at documentation level within a dynamic clearing and forwarding environment. This is a pivotal role requiring meticulous attention to detail and an in-depth understanding of customs regulations and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Capturing of all customs declarations.
Submit query documents to customs.
Calculate Duty and VAT accurately.
Prepare and process Voucher of Correction.
Handle all types of customs stops and examinations, including NRCS and SAPS inspections.
Manage Rebate Store operations and update the tariff book and explanatory notes.
Assist with tariff classification when needed.
Process provisional payments and liquidations.
Prepare and submit acquittal documents to customs.
Reconcile creditor invoices for payment.
Submit DA185 applications for importers and exporters.
Handle customs refund claims and manage destruction of cargo.
Capture EFT requisitions and manage deferment accounts with SARS.
Address queries from clients and third parties professionally.
Apply for import permits and liaise with shipping lines, importers, customs, and other government agencies.
Exhibit flexibility to work extended hours, including weekends, as needed.

Requirements (Experience and Qualifications):

Matric (Grade 12) is essential
Qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transport, or a Customs Clearance Certificate
3 years of experience as an Entry Clerk
Advanced knowledge of import activities, legal and ethical requirements in the shipping, clearing, and forwarding industry
Experience in Customs Clearing (Part 1 & 2)
Strong liaison skills with government departments, shipping lines, depots, freight forwarders, and transporters
Proficiency in handling various customs declarations and processes, including duty and VAT calculations and reconciliation
Excellent communication and organisational skills
High attention to detail and accuracy
Willingness to work extended hours and weekends when required
