What You Will Do

We are hiring our first Human Resources Business Partner reporting into the VP of Finance, to support the companies at The Purple Mixer, Inc. (Miss Jones Baking Co. - a growth-stage food brand and Decko Products - our manufacturing facility in Sandusky, OH). This is a highly impactful role and will serve as the face of HR onsite and a key business partner for employee relations, compliance, recruiting, and policy execution. Over time, they will also help harmonize HR practices across both business units, recognizing where alignment makes sense and where differentiation is appropriate.

Roughly 70% of this role will focus on plant-level HR operations at Decko, responsible for overseeing the full spectrum of on-site human resources operations for roughly 100 employees. With the remaining 30% focused on corporate-level activities and long-term program development.

Responsibilities:

Own the entire recruitment process, from attracting top talent for both hourly and salaried positions to ensuring a smooth hiring experience.
Be a trusted advisor to supervisors and managers, guiding them through employee relations, performance management, and fostering a positive work environment.
Shape our HR framework by administering, updating and creating policies, procedures, benefits administration, and employee handbooks, ensuring clarity and compliance.
Champion employee success through onboarding, offboarding, and safety and compliance training programs - while serving as the HR point of contact for all safety, OSHA, and workers’ compensation matters.
Collaborate with the VP Finance and other leaders to develop and implement company wide initiatives aligned with business goals. Driving employee engagement, morale, and retention efforts.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
5+ years of experience in human resources with strong generalist experience and a focus on leadership level partnerships. Experienced in driving culture improvement and change. SHRM or HRCI certification(s) preferred.
Manufacturing environment experience preferred. Experience working in a unionized environment is preferred.
Working knowledge of federal and state law/regulations relating to human resources
Demonstrated problem-solving skills, including identifying performance gaps and recommending solutions.
Experience in influencing at various levels of the organization and leading a positive employee relations and safety climate.
Comfortable navigating ambiguity and prioritizing competing needs.
Familiarity with HRIS systems (ADP and/or Gusto a plus)
