Marketing Director

Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced, entrepreneurial, and highly motivated Marketing Director to establish and lead their marketing department. This foundational role requires a strategic thinker and skilled executor capable of independently developing and implementing comprehensive marketing strategies across all channels. Initially, this will be a one-person team with the opportunity to build and lead a high-performing marketing team as the company grows. The role is fully remote.

Challenges you would face

Develop and execute a holistic marketing strategy aligned with company goals, including brand positioning, customer acquisition, retention, and loyalty programs for a retail environment
Manage and optimize all digital channels, including SEO, SEM (PPC), social media (organic and paid), email marketing, affiliate marketing, and display advertising
Oversee or directly produce compelling content such as website copy, blog posts, social media creatives, email campaigns, product descriptions, and video scripts
Collaborate to optimize the company website for conversion, user experience, and SEO
Plan, launch, and analyze multi-channel marketing campaigns
Establish KPIs, track performance, analyze data, and provide actionable insights for improvement
Manage the marketing budget to ensure optimal ROI
Maintain consistent brand messaging, voice, and visual identity across platforms
Define structure and roles for a new marketing department as the company grows
Recruit, hire, train, and mentor a marketing team including digital marketers, content creators, and social media managers
Collaborate with sales, product, customer service, and operations to align marketing with business goals
Monitor retail trends, competitors, and consumer behavior to identify opportunities

The ideal candidate

8+ years of marketing experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership role within retail, e-commerce, or consumer goods
Proven track record of building and scaling marketing functions from scratch
Ability to operate independently and handle a wide range of marketing tasks hands-on
Expertise in digital advertising (Google Ads, Meta Ads), SEO, email marketing, content marketing, and social media
Strong analytical skills to interpret data and make informed decisions
Experience with tools such as Google Analytics 4, SEMrush, HubSpot, and CRM systems
Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Highly organized, self-motivated, and comfortable in a remote, fast-paced environment
Strong project management skills and ability to juggle multiple priorities
