THE ROLE
A key contributor responsible for overseeing full-cycle accounting services, leading client engagements as the primary point of contact, and managing a team of 2-6 direct reports while delivering services to multiple external clients.

THE TASKS

Full-Cycle Accounting

Lead and oversee complete accounting/finance function for multiple client files simultaneously
Supervise daily operations related tasks for client files (i.e. accounts receivable, accounts payable, and invoicing workflows, responses to client inquiries, vendor payments, etc.)
Review detailed financial statements (BS and P&L) and balance reconciliation workbook
Lead and oversee month-end closing processes and delivery to clients by established delivery dates , stakeholders, lenders, etc.
Lead and oversee monthly performance analysis and KPIs
Lead preparation and analysis of cash flow statements and forecasts for client decision- making
Implement and maintain internal controls for accounting processes
Review and monitor intercompany transactions across client entities

Financial Reporting

Prepare comprehensive monthly financial statements under ASPE, IFRS or US GAAP
Manage government filings including CRA and regulatory compliance requirements
Coordinate with external audit teams for reviews and year-end audits
Perform detailed analysis and explanation of financial statement variances
Handle MD&A preparation for clients' management teams
Prepare consolidated financial statements for clients with multiple entities
Prepare technical accounting memos and position papers for complex accounting issues

Client Management & Team Leadership

Address client inquiries and resolve accounting issues in a timely manner
Lead client relationship management and coordinate all deliverables to ensure deadlines are met
Work to understand client’s needs and anticipate value add services/work (i.e. investing cash balances in treasury bonds, noticing positive or negative trends, initiating conversations about best practices, etc.)
Perpetually looking for efficiencies across client work (i.e. automating certain processes, investigating and implementing new software, etc.)
Stepping in to assist clients with urgent or time sensitive matters
Perpetually looking for ways to provide value to our clients

EXPECTATIONS TIMELINE
By Month 1

Learn internal processes for client management and accounting workflows
Build relationships with direct reports and supervise client deliverables
Understand role expectations and performance standards
Begin taking ownership of client communications and basic relationship management

By Month 3

Lead preparation of financial statements for assigned clients
Demonstrate effective team management and delegation capabilities
Demonstrate attention to detail and quality control capabilities
Take full ownership of client relationships with confidence

By Month 6

Manage complete portfolio of client financial statements
Handle government filings and CRA requirements with minimal supervision
Demonstrate effective leadership of 2-6 direct reports with clear performance improvement
Act as primary client contact for complex issues and strategic discussions

By Month 12

Demonstrate full proficiency in client file management
Operate at full accounting manager level with strong client-facing capabilities
Develop and implement standardized templates or processes that improve client deliverable quality
Show measurable success in team development and client satisfaction metrics

THE SKILL SET

Minimum 5 years of IFRS or US GAAP reporting experience
Canadian or international CPA designation (completed or in progress)
Strong attention to detail and quality control capabilities
Proven ability to manage multiple simultaneous deadlines
Excellent client relationship management and stakeholder communication skills
