A well-established engineering consulting firm is seeking a Senior Systems Engineering Specialist to support complex aviation infrastructure projects. This role involves the design and coordination of specialized low voltage systems, with a focus on telecommunications, access control, CCTV, digital signage, and structured cabling within airport environments.

The ideal candidate brings deep technical knowledge, experience working across multidisciplinary teams, and the ability to develop and oversee detailed system designs from concept through construction.

Key Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership and design support for telecommunications, access control, CCTV surveillance, digital signage, and structured cabling systems, including related network hardware and software
Assist in the development of drawings, sketches, and specifications that meet project requirements and industry standards
Create and review detailed system designs, ensuring alignment with project scope, client expectations, and coordination across disciplines
Select appropriate technologies and equipment to support system functionality and performance
Participate in design coordination meetings with internal teams and client stakeholders
Conduct engineering studies, including conduit and cable tray calculations, ampacity analysis, and evaluations of existing infrastructure
Review and respond to RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings during construction
Support field inspections, system verification, and construction administration activities
Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (NEC, BICSI, TIA/EIA, TSA, FAA, FCC, CBP, etc.)
Maintain organized records of project communications, design updates, and contractor coordination

Qualifications

Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field
10–15+ years of experience designing telecommunications or low voltage systems, preferably within aviation or airport environments
Professional certification such as RCDD, PSP, or PE is strongly preferred
Proven ability to work independently while collaborating across multi-disciplinary design teams
Strong understanding of industry codes, standards, and regulatory agency requirements
Proficiency in developing detailed construction documentation and specifications
Excellent problem-solving, coordination, and technical communication skills
