Job Description and Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Director of Sustainability and Environmental Management to lead and shape the environmental strategy within a forward-thinking organisation. As the Director of Sustainability and Environmental Management, you will be responsible for developing and executing the company’s sustainability strategies, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and delivering best-in-class environmental management solutions. Key Responsibilities

Lead the design, development, and implementation of sustainability strategies aligned with the organisation’s business objectives and environmental goals.
Drive the adoption of sustainable practices across operations, ensuring that environmental impacts are minimised and that sustainability is embedded in decision-making processes.
Provide leadership and guidance to multidisciplinary teams, fostering innovation and excellence in environmental management practices.
Collaborate with senior leadership to set clear sustainability goals, monitor progress, and ensure the alignment of sustainability objectives with broader business targets.
Oversee regulatory compliance, ensuring the organisation meets all relevant environmental standards, laws, and certifications.
Champion sustainability initiatives across the company, including energy management, waste reduction, carbon footprint minimisation, and responsible resource utilisation.
Liaise with external stakeholders, including regulators, industry bodies, clients, and partners, to strengthen the company’s sustainability efforts and foster meaningful collaborations.
Prepare and present detailed environmental performance reports to key internal and external stakeholders, showcasing achievements and identifying areas for improvement.
Continuously monitor industry trends and regulatory changes, ensuring the organisation remains ahead of environmental regulations and industry best practices.
Advocate for sustainable innovation, recommending new technologies, tools, and methodologies that can improve environmental performance.

Qualifications

A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in environmental management or sustainability leadership, ideally within a business development or consultancy environment.
Strong knowledge of environmental management systems, sustainability practices, and regulatory frameworks.
Proven ability to develop and execute sustainability strategies that deliver measurable business and environmental outcomes.
Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage, mentor, and motivate multidisciplinary teams.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with senior stakeholders, clients, and regulatory bodies.
A degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field is essential. A postgraduate qualification or professional certifications in sustainability management is highly desirable.
A track record of successful project management, delivering complex sustainability programmes on time and within budget.
A strategic thinker with the ability to balance long-term sustainability goals with short-term business priorities.
