Overview

Great Basin Staffing is actively seeking Journeyman Electricians with industrial and refinery experience for shutdown/turnaround projects in Salt Lake City, UT. These roles are offered through Great Basin Staffing to our refinery, terminal, and heavy industrial clients. TWIC card is required for select facilities.

Key Responsibilities

Perform industrial electrical work in live plant and turnaround environments (refinery, petrochemical, pipeline, power, process, wastewater).
Install and bend conduit (½"–4" EMT/IMC/Rigid), pull wire, terminate, and set cable trays.
Work with MCCs, VFDs, and PLC panels; support motor control wiring and troubleshooting.
Participate in commissioning/start-up, LOTO, permitting, JSAs, and daily tailboards.
Read and interpret P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams), one-lines, and electrical drawings.
Work safely under strict refinery procedures and production schedules.

Must-Have Qualifications

Licensed Journeyman Electrician (state-issued; UT or reciprocity-eligible).
Industrial/refinery experience (shutdown/turnaround/outage strongly preferred).
Valid TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).
Proficiency with rigid conduit bending, MCC/VFD/PLC systems, and instrumentation terminations.
Own basic hand tools and OSHA-compliant PPE.
Must pass background, drug/alcohol, and client onboarding requirements.
Reliable transportation; willingness to work overtime/extended shifts.

Preferred Qualifications

ISA/Instrumentation experience (I&E/E&I), as-built markup familiarity.
NCCER, OSHA-10/30, MSHA, First Aid/CPR, Confined Space, HF unit exposure.
Previous experience with major refinery operators (Chevron, Marathon, Valero, Phillips 66, ExxonMobil, PBF, etc.).

Compensation & Logistics

Prevailing Wage: Project-specific wage determination provided at dispatch.
Per Diem/Travel: Where approved by client (amount varies).
Weekly Payroll: Direct deposit, W-2 through Great Basin Staffing LLC.
