Position (Japanese-English Bilingual) Sales Representative – Air Freight Division (Entry-Level)

Summary A Japanese logistics company specializing exclusively in air freight forwarding—originating from a major Japanese conglomerate’s warehouse group—is seeking a bilingual (Japanese/English) Sales Representative for its Chicago office (Elk Grove Village, IL). This is an entry-level position ideal for a candidate eager to start a career in logistics sales. The primary responsibility is to develop new business opportunities in the Midwest (MI, OH, IN, KY) through active sales visits, while also managing existing client accounts. The company provides comprehensive training and a supportive environment, including an inside sales team to assist with quotations.

Essential Duties

Proactively identify and develop new client accounts in the designated Midwest territory (specifically Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky).
Conduct frequent sales visits by car (ranging from day trips to overnight stays) to build relationships and secure new business.
Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing clients to ensure satisfaction and long-term partnerships.
Collaborate with the 2-person inside sales team, who can assist with the preparation of quotations and proposals.
Respond promptly and professionally to client inquiries.
Collaborate closely with the operations and customer service teams to ensure smooth shipment handling.
Conduct market research and update CRM with client data and activity records.
Prepare regular sales reports and updates for management.

Working Hours / Working Style

Full-time, Non-exempt position
Standard hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
On-site work (Elk Grove Village office) when not traveling.
Frequent domestic travel by car (day trips and overnight stays) required to territories including Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky.

Salary / Benefits

Base Salary: $45,000 – $55,000 (depending on experience)

Qualifications

Business-level fluency in both Japanese and English (reading, writing, speaking) – required
Must hold a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel frequently by car throughout the Midwest territory – required

Proactive, self-motivated, and results-driven attitude
Prior experience in sales, customer service, or client support is a plus, but not required
