Vice President of Engineering

Overview

Our client is a fast-growing fintech startup pioneering culturally intelligent AI-powered financial coaching solutions across Latin America. The company partners with leading institutions and operates as a mission-driven B Corp, building innovative wealth-tech products that empower individuals and businesses. They are seeking a Vice President of Engineering to lead the technology vision, scale a world-class engineering team, and build secure, resilient systems that power their mobile-first AI platform. This remote role is based in Latin America, with occasional travel to the U.S.

Challenges you would face

Owning and scaling the engineering function from architecture to culture
Driving mobile-first excellence through native iOS development and the upcoming Android MVP
Maintaining a hands-on approach by coding and mentoring engineers in best practices
Collaborating cross-functionally with Product, Design, and AI/ML teams to align on roadmap and execution
Architecting for scalability, reliability, and performance across AWS, Vercel, and MX integrations
Building and leading a high-performing engineering team across Latin America
Representing the company’s technical vision to investors and supporting fundraising efforts
Implementing processes for CI/CD, code reviews, and agile methodologies suited to startup environments

The ideal candidate

Previous experience as CTO, VP of Engineering, or founding engineer leading technical strategy from inception to scale
Expertise in fintech or wealth-tech, particularly in financial literacy or consumer engagement products
Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish for effective leadership and investor communications
Hands-on technical leadership with experience coding and conducting architectural reviews
Proven success scaling startups from early stage through Series A or B
Deep understanding of mobile-first development, particularly iOS architecture and UX optimization
Experience managing distributed engineering teams across Latin America
Strong familiarity with AI/ML implementation using tools like LangChain, ChatGPT, or Gemini
Background in B2C or engagement-driven applications focused on retention and user growth
Strong executive communication and presentation skills

Experience with U.S.–Latino markets and financial systems
Background in mission-driven or impact-focused organizations
Expertise in productizing AI models into scalable, user-facing features
Experience presenting technical vision and KPIs to investors and boards
Knowledge of multi-platform ecosystems integrating mobile and web environments
