Position Interpreter

Summary A Japanese cornstarch manufacturer is seeking an ambitious Interpreter for its office in Champaign, Illinois. This role involves sourcing U.S.-grown corn for export, coordinating logistics, and providing specialized Japanese-English interpretation and translation services. The ideal candidate possesses strong bilingual skills and an interest in agricultural business and international trade. This position offers potential for future advancement into internal management roles. Entry-level applicants are welcome.

Essential Duties

Provide professional Japanese/English interpretation during meetings between American companies and Japanese personnel.
Gather, analyze, and translate information on trends in the U.S. corn market from English sources into Japanese.
Assist in purchasing the required amount of grain at the best possible price, considering quality, grain type, and logistics.
Coordinate, arrange, oversee, and record all storage and transportation of purchased corn from origin to delivery in Japan.
Engage in international outside sales for new products produced by the parent company.
Support the parent company in research, development, and marketing of new products.

Working Hours, Working Style
Full-time position
Standard working hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday–Friday
Willingness to travel often is required.

Salary
Annual income: $55,000 or more (depending on experience )

Qualifications

More than 3 years of work experience.
Professional Japanese/English translation and interpretation skills.
JLPT N1 (for college graduates).
Authorization to work in the United States.
Willing to travel often.
Open to all majors; interest in agribusiness is a plus.
Experience/interest in grain trading with a concentration in corn is a plus.
The company is willing to provide on-the-job training for candidates lacking experience in the corn market but willing to learn
