Overview
We are hiring a Protection & Control Relay Test Technician to test electrical relay panels, protection & control panels, and low-voltage control systems for a leading power equipment manufacturer in Des Moines, IA. Ideal candidates have experience with schematics, relay testing, control panels, and electrical troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts
Perform ring-out, continuity checks, and terminal point verification
Simulate inputs/signals and verify correct relay/protection response
Operate test switches, meters, and power sources to validate panel operation
Verify contact closure and proper operation of switches and relays
Document test results and assist with corrections or rework as needed
Work with engineering and shop teams to ensure quality and reliability

Qualifications

Experience as a Relay Technician, Protection & Control Technician, Electrical Test Technician, or Panel Tester
Strong ability to read and follow schematics and wiring diagrams
Comfortable using multimeters, test equipment, and power sources
Basic understanding of AC/DC theory, voltage, current, and continuity
Attention to detail and good documentation habits
Willingness to learn client-specific test procedures

Pay: $25.00 – $32.00 per hour (DOE)
Schedule: Full-time, day shift, Monday–Friday
Employment Path: Contract-to-hire option after evaluation period
Travel: Minimal – work performed in Des Moines manufacturing/test facility
