On behalf of our client, a leading International Group of Companies in the Oil and Gas sector, we are seeking a driven and ambitious Renewable Energy Sources Engineer to join their expanding team based in Nicosia, Cyprus.

Renewable Energy Sources Engineer – Ref. (6092/RSE/ESS/CY)

Role Overview:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the development, licensing, monitoring and asset management of Renewable Energy Projects in Cyprus, including Solar PV, Wind and Energy Storage. The role covers the full project lifecycle, from licensing and development through Ready-to-Build status, to operation and performance management of operating assets.

Main Responsibilities:

Project Development, Licensing & Stakeholder Coordination

Maintain strong knowledge and continuous monitoring of the Cyprus RES regulatory, legislative, licensing and permitting framework for renewable energy and storage projects.
Manage and coordinate agreements with local developers, landowners, external advisors and internal support functions to ensure timely project development and licensing.
Participate in meetings with developers to safeguard the implementation of commercial agreements and monitor performance.
Communicate with external consultants, local and national authorities, grid operators and other stakeholders to expedite project development up to Ready-to-Build stage.
Participate in on-site visits for review and audit of potential new PV, Wind, and Storage projects.

Technical & Operational Performance

Monitor solar plant KPIs on a daily, monthly and annual basis (availability, PR, PI, irradiance, yield).
Identify underperformance, analyze root causes and coordinate corrective actions with O&M contractors.
Review SCADA data, performance reports and weather-related deviations.
Analyze operational data to identify efficiency improvements and optimization opportunities.
Support repowering, expansions, upgrades, and hybridization projects (inverters, monitoring systems, digital tools, battery systems).
Ensure compliance with grid codes, environmental permits, and HSSE requirements.

Financial Oversight & Reporting

Track revenue, operating costs, deviations versus budget and overall asset profitability.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling activities.
Review and validate invoices, insurance policies, and claims.
Prepare monthly and annual asset performance reports for management.

Contract, Risk & Compliance Management

Monitor execution and compliance of commercial (PPA, CfD, etc.) and operational contracts.
Manage relationships with EPCs, O&M providers, RES Aggregators, insurers, landowners, authorities, and grid operators.
Coordinate maintenance schedules, inspections, repairs, upgrades, third-party audits, and market schedules.
Ensure compliance with CERA requirements, grid operator regulations, environmental permits, and HSSE processes.
Identify and manage operational, financial, regulatory, and contractual risks.
Oversee incidents, claims, and adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Energy, or related field).
3–5 years of experience in a similar role within the Cyprus Renewable Energy market.
Strong knowledge of the Cyprus RES regulatory and legislative framework.
Experience with renewable energy technologies, particularly PV, Wind, and Energy Storage.
Knowledge of applications such as GIS, Design software Autocad, Project Management applications και PV design and energy study software (e.g. PVSyst etc)
Fluency in English (written and spoken).
Excellent user of MS Office.
Strong communication and negotiation skills.
Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
Target-oriented and able to manage multiple stakeholders and deadlines.
Proactive, organized, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
