What You Will Do

The Senior Sales Manager will play a critical role in the continued growth of the company, supporting the Head of Sales to achieve company objectives in the retail channel in the US. We are looking for a results-driven Senior Sales Manager to lead our sales efforts and drive growth across key Natural and Conventional Grocery retailers, and expand Alternate Channels. The Senior Sales Manager will partner with cross functional teams to expand distribution and grow market share, leveraging their strong analytical skills to make data-driven decisions and recommendations.

Responsibilities:

Total customer responsibility of designated customers in Grocery, Natural and Alternate Channels: this includes growing existing customers and developing business at new retailers and channels
Responsible for management of broker and distributor partners
Conduct line reviews and hold on-going meetings: develop data stories to grow distribution and build retailer specific support plans with marketing
Build and achieve annual financial budget and monitor performance metrics: analyze financial data (sales, trade, net revenue) and POS data to identify opportunities and address challenges. Communicate forecast updates based on sales trends
Manage POS reporting and data analysis, including: Internal weekly reporting using customer portals; monthly syndicated data review, with support from the business analyst – Nielsen, SPINS, emphasis on analyzing the company’s performance vs competition; identify sales trends and opportunities; creation of data stories to communicate to Buyers
Manage trade promotions, including submitting contracts, managing promo calendars, tracking and analyzing promotion results, and validating deductions from accounting

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree
7+ years of sales experience in the CPG food industry, within Grocery and Natural
At least 2+ years direct sales experience with one or more Alternate Channels (Trader Joes, Aldi, Starbucks)
Experience working directly with retailers and managing brokers, and retailers supplied through distributors (UNFI/KeHE)
Established track record of achieving sales targets, while managing trade spending
Demonstrated ability to manage and deliver results via problem solving capability and influence, while anticipating obstacles and developing contingency plans
Demonstrated experience building relationships with new and existing customers
Experience measuring and analyzing data, then making recommendations and creating data stories; syndicated data experience a plus
Ability to take initiative and work effectively across functions collaboratively as well as independently, with a solution-oriented mindset
Business acumen across marketing, operations and finance
Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Effective communication, reporting and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams and cultures in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
A self-directed working style: this is a fully remote role, so you need to build structure for yourself, flag issues proactively, and communicate clearly across functions.
Comfort with ambiguity and growth: processes are still being built and problems don't always come with playbooks.
Ability to travel (~10%) for retailer meeting and trade shows, as needed
