Financial Controller / Site CFO

About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking a strategic and hands-on Financial Controller to lead site-level financial operations. This role is central to managing financial processes, ensuring regulatory compliance, supporting departmental leaders, and driving operational efficiency. Working directly with the General Manager and closely with the corporate finance team, the Financial Controller will oversee accounting, IT, purchasing, payroll, and warehouse operations.

This is an on-site role with regular travel between operational locations.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the accounting and IT departments.
Support functional leaders with financial planning, analysis, and insights.
Develop and monitor department objectives and annual budgets.
Oversee monthly close processes and prepare timely financial reports.
Manage internal controls, audits, and compliance with accounting standards.
Coordinate cost forecasts, CAPEX planning, and variance analysis.
Monitor site payroll operations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Supervise purchasing operations to ensure efficient procurement practices.
Implement best practices in warehouse management and inventory control.
Oversee technology systems and support digital transformation initiatives.
Participate in strategic planning as a key member of the leadership team.
Ensure SOX compliance and maintain robust internal controls.
Analyze financial data to identify trends and provide actionable insights.
Lead performance evaluations, succession planning, and staff development.
Support materials management, including cost control and vendor oversight.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Professional accounting designation (CPA, CMA, or equivalent) strongly preferred.
5–10 years of progressive financial leadership experience, ideally in a resource-based industry.
Solid understanding of general ledger flows and financial reporting processes.
Experience managing cross-functional teams and multiple departments.
Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with ERP systems.
Demonstrated expertise in budgeting, forecasting, procurement, and materials management.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
