Senior Electrical Engineer – Power or Control Systems (15+ Years)

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer (Associate Principal or Principal level) to help expand a growing electrical engineering practice focused on power and control systems. This role is ideal for a technically driven leader who enjoys solving complex, real-world problems and contributing to the growth of a high-performing consulting team.

Projects span a wide range of applications, including electrical utility systems, rail and transit, industrial infrastructure, and heavy movable structures, with work ranging from new system design to forensic investigation and litigation support.

Key Responsibilities

Lead technical execution of electrical projects from initiation through closeout
Design, diagnose, and troubleshoot power and control systems, including motors, drives, PLCs, distributed control, and power distribution
Perform and oversee hands-on field investigations and system evaluations
Serve as electrical subject-matter expert on interdisciplinary project teams
Act as Engineer of Record, including reviewing and sealing project documents
Manage client expectations, deliverables, and technical communication
Mentor engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing and technical excellence
Support business development, client relationships, and industry involvement

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical, Power, Controls, or Systems Engineering (or related field)
Licensed Professional Engineer (or ability to obtain within one year)
Minimum 15 years of relevant experience, including:
- Power and control systems design and specification
- Evaluation and problem-solving for existing systems
- Forensic investigation and technical analysis
Strong technical writing, communication, and graphical skills
Self-starter with a “first-principles” approach to engineering problem-solving
Willingness to travel and perform field-based work as required

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Combination of office-based and field-based work
Ability to safely access electrical systems, work at heights or in confined spaces, and utilize PPE
Ability to lift and carry tools and equipment for field investigations
Authorized to work and travel within the United States

Estimated Base Salary Range: $132,000 – $220,000 (based on experience and qualifications)
