Position : Real Estate Accountant
Working Schedule : 8am-5pm or 9am-6pm EST

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Real Estate Accountant. This role is responsible for managing the financial operations of our real estate portfolio, ensuring accurate accounting records, and providing financial reporting to support business decisions. The ideal candidate will be proficient in accounts receivable and payable, journal entries, and have experience with Yardi software.

Key Responsibilities

General Accounting

Maintain accurate financial records for multiple properties and entities
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and general ledger accounts monthly
Prepare and post journal entries for rent, expenses, and other transactions

Financial Reporting

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for properties
Generate reports for property managers, investors, and stakeholders
Assist with budget preparation and variance analysis
Track operating expenses and capital expenditures

Compliance & Operations

Ensure compliance with GAAP and real estate accounting standards
Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits
Maintain organized documentation for all financial transactions
Support tax preparation by providing necessary financial data
Process tenant deposits, rent payments, and lease-related transactions

Collaboration

Work closely with property management teams to resolve accounting issues
Communicate with vendors regarding payment inquiries
Assist with special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as needed

Qualifications

Required

3+ years of accounting experience (real estate experience required)
3+ years of Yardi experience (looking for an expert)
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Knowledge of real estate terminology and lease accounting
Experience with multi-entity accounting
