Main requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
Professional certifications in construction management or HSE are an advantage.

Experience
Minimum 10+ years in civil construction.
Minimum 5 years in supervisory or superintendent role.
Strong experience in earthworks and road construction projects.
Experience in infrastructure, oil & gas, or large industrial projects preferred.

Technical Knowledge
Earthworks methods and equipment operations.
Road construction standards and layers (subgrade, sub-base, base, asphalt/concrete).
Soil classification and compaction standards.
Construction survey coordination.
Heavy equipment productivity and planning.

Skills & Competencies
Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
Planning and organizational skills.
Strong knowledge of construction sequencing.
Good reporting and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple subcontractors and work fronts.

Main responsibilities

Job Summary
The Civil Superintendent – Earthworks & Motor Roads is responsible for managing and overseeing all earthworks and road construction activities on site. The role ensures works are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and HSE requirements. The position provides leadership to Supervisors, Foremen, and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities
Construction & Site Management
Manage all earthworks activities including clearing, stripping, excavation, filling, grading, and compaction.
Oversee motor road construction works including subgrade preparation, sub-base, base course, asphalt or concrete road works.
Ensure compliance with project drawings, technical specifications, and method statements.
Coordinate with Engineering, Survey, QA/QC, and HSE departments.
Review and plan construction sequences and work fronts.

Planning & Progress Control
Develop short-term and long-term construction plans.
Monitor daily and weekly progress against schedule.
Optimize manpower, equipment, and materials utilization.
Identify risks, delays, and propose mitigation measures.

Quality Control
Ensure compliance with compaction standards, soil testing, and road construction quality requirements.
Support inspection and testing activities (FDT, compaction tests, material approvals).
Ensure proper documentation and as-built records.

HSE Management
Enforce HSE standards, risk assessments, and permit-to-work requirements.
Ensure safe operation of heavy equipment and traffic management for road works.
Lead incident prevention and corrective action implementation.

Team Leadership
Supervise Civil Supervisors, Foremen, and subcontractors.
Conduct coordination meetings and daily briefings.
Support workforce productivity and discipline.
