Head of Institutional Sales – Digital Asset Derivatives (Hong Kong)

In this role, you will develop and manage key institutional relationships across the digital asset derivatives ecosystem. This includes global investment banks, hedge funds, asset managers, proprietary trading firms, family offices, and crypto-native institutions.

This is a hands-on sales and relationship management position requiring regular travel, conference participation, and in-person client engagement. The focus is on driving trading activity, onboarding new participants, and deepening strategic relationships.

Based in Hong Kong, the ideal candidate will bring an entrepreneurial mindset, a genuine interest in digital assets, and a disciplined, structured approach to institutional sales. A strong understanding of futures and options trading, clearing and settlement processes, and broader derivatives market structure is highly advantageous.

You will collaborate closely with internal teams including Compliance, Operations, Trade Surveillance, Finance, and Risk, while working externally with clients, liquidity providers, and clearing members.

Key Responsibilities

Partner with senior commercial leadership and the global sales team to originate and onboard institutional clients to the platform.
Market directly to hedge funds, asset managers, banks, and proprietary trading firms to generate trading volumes.
Manage and grow a portfolio of active institutional clients, increasing revenue and diversifying flow.
Work alongside clearing member sales teams to activate their client bases through joint initiatives, education sessions, and roadshows.
Develop an understanding of market-making strategies and coordinate with liquidity providers to optimise venue liquidity.
Represent the firm at industry conferences and events across both traditional finance and crypto markets.
Contribute to marketing materials and positioning to ensure the platform’s value proposition is clearly articulated.
Provide structured market feedback to inform product development and strategic roadmap decisions.

Requirements

10+ years’ experience in a client-facing institutional role within derivatives markets, ideally at a Tier 1 investment bank, regulated exchange, or similar financial institution.
Strong academic background.
Deep knowledge of financial markets, including equities, commodities, fixed income, and derivatives.
Clear understanding of cleared derivatives infrastructure and exchange trading environments.
Exposure to institutional-grade venues such as CME, Eurex, ICE, or comparable platforms.
Demonstrated interest in digital assets and market structure.
Strong organisational and commercial mindset.
Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and CRM systems.
Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Fluency in English and Mandarin (spoken and written).
