Job Description: Vehicle Parts Manager

Role Overview

The Vehicle Parts Manager will be responsible for overseeing the entire parts department, ensuring seamless inventory flow, cost-effective procurement, and high-level support for the service department. The ideal candidate is a strategic organizer who can balance vendor relationships with precise data management.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Management: Oversee the ordering, receiving, and stocking of vehicle parts to maintain optimal inventory levels while minimizing obsolescence.
Vendor Relations: Negotiate with suppliers and manufacturers to secure competitive pricing, high-quality components, and reliable delivery schedules.
Departmental Leadership: Manage a team of parts specialists, providing training, setting performance goals, and ensuring a safety-first work environment.
Financial Oversight: Monitor departmental budgets, track profit margins, and conduct regular audits to ensure 100% inventory accuracy.
Technical Support: Collaborate closely with the Service Manager to ensure technicians have the necessary parts to meet repair deadlines and maximize shop productivity.
Compliance & Records: Maintain detailed records of warranties, returns, and core exchanges in accordance with company policy and industry regulations.

Required Qualifications

Experience: 5+ years of experience in automotive or heavy equipment parts management.
Technical Skills: Proficiency with Inventory Management Systems (IMS) or Dealer Management Systems (DMS).
Knowledge: Deep understanding of vehicle mechanics, part identification, and supply chain logistics.
Soft Skills: Strong negotiation skills, analytical thinking, and the ability to lead a team under tight deadlines.

To ensure success in this role, the candidate will be measured on:

Inventory Turnover Rate: Maintaining a lean, efficient stock level.
Order Fulfillment Accuracy: Ensuring the correct parts are available for technicians 95% of the time.
Procurement Savings: Demonstrating cost-efficiency through strategic vendor negotiations.
