Role Summary:

As a Specialist – Medical Proofreader, you will be responsible for final-stage proofreading and editorial quality control across medical, scientific, and promotional assets. This includes validating scientific claims, ensuring compliance with AMA and client-specific style guides, and checking references, claims, and content consistency. You’ll also contribute to maintaining editorial SOPs, mentoring junior proofreaders, and driving editorial innovation across platforms and processes.

Role Responsibilities

Proofread and perform detailed quality control checks on a range of formats including PDFs, PowerPoint decks, HTML content, and scientific manuscripts.
Validate references, dosing information, charts, claims, and medical context for accuracy and regulatory alignment.
Ensure brand tone, structural consistency, and terminology alignment across multi-format content.
Maintain and update editorial style guides and SOPs in collaboration with editorial leads.
Provide feedback and mentorship to junior proofreaders and coordinate peer review.
Support onboarding of new clients or brands by shaping editorial workflows and expectations.
Collaborate with project managers, designers, writers, and reviewers to ensure submission readiness and compliance.
Contribute to editorial quality audits, checklist improvements, and platform enhancements.

Your Day-to-Day Deliverables Will Include

Final reviews and annotations of scientific and promotional content.
Logging tracked changes, feedback comments, and review documentation.
Addressing MLR review escalations related to grammar, style, or accuracy.
Coaching team members and guiding them on editorial best practices.
Documenting and managing content version control and audit trails.
Participating in QA reviews and performance evaluations from an editorial perspective.

This may be the right role for you if you have

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
3–8 years of experience in medical proofreading, editorial quality control, or scientific content review within an agency, publishing, or pharma setting.
Expertise in AMA Manual of Style, with hands-on experience working on MLR-reviewed deliverables.
Strong familiarity with regulatory guidelines and promotional content standards across healthcare and life sciences.
