Accounting Analyst (MSP / Professional Services)

About the Role

We are seeking a highly analytical Accounting Analyst to support the finance function of a growing Managed Services Provider (MSP).

This role sits at the intersection of accounting, financial analysis, and operational data. You will play a critical role in ensuring financial accuracy, reconciling complex revenue streams, and generating insights that drive business decisions.

This is not a transactional accounting role.
You will be expected to analyze, interpret, and improve financial performance — not just report on it.

What You’ll Own

1. Financial Reporting & Analysis

Prepare and analyze key financial reports, including:
- Revenue and cost analysis
- Gross margin reporting
- Department-level performance
Support monthly and quarterly close processes
Identify trends, anomalies, and performance drivers across the business

2. PSA ↔ Accounting Reconciliation

Own reconciliation between PSA systems (e.g., Autotask, ConnectWise, Halo) and QuickBooks Online
Validate and ensure accuracy of:
- Recurring revenue (MRR) postings
- Project-based revenue
- Time & materials billing
Investigate discrepancies and resolve data inconsistencies across systems

3. Revenue & Profitability Analysis

Analyze profitability across:
- Managed services contracts
- Projects and implementations
- Support and service lines
Evaluate margin performance and identify opportunities for improvement
Provide actionable insights to leadership on revenue quality and cost efficiency

4. Data Analysis & Financial Modeling

Build and maintain financial models and reporting dashboards (primarily in Excel)
Analyze key operational and financial metrics, including:
- Monthly Recurring Revenue (MRR) growth
- Customer revenue trends and cohort behavior
- Service utilization and capacity
- Cost of service delivery
Translate raw data into clear, decision-ready insights

5. Process Improvement & Scalability

Improve workflows between PSA systems and accounting platforms
Help design scalable reporting and forecasting frameworks
Identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements
Support finance leadership with ad hoc analysis and strategic initiatives

What We’re Looking For

This role requires someone who is both detail-oriented and commercially aware — someone who understands how financial data connects to operational performance.

Required Qualifications

4+ years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, or similar roles
Strong hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online
Advanced Excel skills, including:
- Pivot tables
- Financial modeling
- Data analysis and manipulation
Experience performing multi-system financial reconciliations
Solid understanding of professional services or service-based accounting models

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working within a Managed Services Provider (MSP)
Familiarity with PSA tools such as:
- Autotask
- ConnectWise
- HaloPSA
Experience working with recurring revenue models (MRR / ARR)
Accounting degree or progress toward CPA or equivalent certification
