Remote Audio-Visual (AV) Designer

A leading engineering and systems consulting firm is seeking a Remote Audio-Visual (AV) Designer to support a growing portfolio of complex infrastructure and building projects across transportation, government, education, and commercial sectors. This organization is known for delivering integrated technology solutions and working on large-scale, multidisciplinary developments across the U.S. and internationally.

This role will be part of a collaborative design team responsible for developing AV system designs and construction documentation within a broader low-voltage and MEP environment.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop audio-visual systems for a variety of environments including control rooms, conference spaces, classrooms, and large public venues
Produce detailed construction documents using Revit and AutoCAD, including plans, riser diagrams, and system schematics
Coordinate AV designs with low voltage systems (IT, communications, security) and MEP disciplines
Develop and manage 3D BIM models and AV-related Revit families
Interpret client requirements, architectural drawings, and existing conditions to inform design solutions
Support system selection, layout, and specifications for AV technologies
Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to ensure timely and accurate deliverables
Participate in design reviews, clash detection, and coordination using tools such as Navisworks
Maintain high standards for documentation quality, consistency, and attention to detail

Required Qualifications

Degree or equivalent experience in Engineering Technology, AV Design, Drafting, or a related field
5+ years of experience in AV design and/or BIM/CAD production
Strong proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD for construction documentation
Experience designing low voltage systems, with a focus on audio-visual
Understanding of construction documentation standards and project delivery processes
Ability to work independently while collaborating within a distributed team environment
Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with BIM 360, Navisworks, and Bluebeam
Familiarity with AVIXA standards and best practices
CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) or other AV-related certifications
Experience working on large-scale or multi-site projects
