Position Summary

As the Corporate Tax Manager, you will be a member of the corporate tax practice working on business income tax planning, corporate compliance, and ASC 740 income tax accounting projects. You will help manage engagements for multiple clients while collaborating with team members and specialists across the tax practice, and you will supervise and mentor senior associates, associates, and interns on tax projects.

Must-Haves

Active CPA license (State of CA) or JD with active law license
Corporate compliance and ASC 740 provision experience including prep, review, and audit
Willing to come into the office a minimum of 2 days per week
Public accounting experience with top 15 accounting firms within recent experience or large regional firm
Corporate tax experience supporting large, multi-state/national/global companies
Bachelor's degree in Accounting
Minimum 4-7 years of progressive tax compliance and/or tax consulting experience

Primary Functions

Run client engagements from start to finish, including planning, executing, directing, and completing tax projects and managing to budget
Supervise, train, and mentor senior associates, associates, and interns on tax projects and assess performance of staff for engagement reviews; perform in-charge role as needed
Identify and capitalize on opportunities to sell services to existing and potential clients
Review tax returns prepared by staff and make recommendations on return preparation regarding accuracy and tax savings opportunities
Conduct primary review of ASC 740 income tax provision engagements
Research and consult on various tax matters; utilize tax-related software to prepare and process returns
Respond to inquiries from the IRS, State, and other tax authorities
Maintain good working relationships with clients and work effectively with client management and staff at all levels to gather information and perform tax services
Gain understanding of client operations, processes, and business objectives, and utilize that knowledge on engagements
Attend professional development and training sessions on a regular basis
Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict client confidentiality

Required Skills

Experience in corporate income tax and strong ASC 740 Accounting for Income Taxes skills
Excellent analytical, technical, and tax accounting/technology skills with proficiency in US GAAP and corporate income tax laws and regulations
Strong working knowledge of broad-based statutory income tax compliance and consulting including state and local income taxes, taxation of international activity, and transfer pricing
Exceptional client service, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
Engagement management experience
Strong teamwork, analytical skills, and attention to detail
Ability to travel as needed
OneSource Tax Provision software experience preferred
