As a Claims Assistant, you will be the backbone of the claims process. This is a high-stakes administrative role that requires exceptional attention to detail, proactive problem-solving, and the ability to provide reassurance to customers during stressful situations. You will ensure every claim is organized, documented, and progressing efficiently from start to finish.

Core Responsibilities

Claims File Setup & Documentation

Eligibility Verification: Confirm policy status and coverage dates to ensure claims are ready for review.
File Preparation: Upload appraisals, photos, and supporting documentation to maintain well-organized claim files.
Pattern Recognition: Review prior customer interactions to identify trends and provide insights to the Claims Coordinator.

Logistics & Tracking

Shipping Management: Create and send shipping labels for high-value items being sent for assessment or salvage.
Proactive Monitoring: Track shipments across partners and follow up on delivery status.
Customer Updates: Keep customers informed on expected delivery timelines and confirm receipt of items.

Customer & Partner Communication

Partner Outreach: Coordinate and communicate with external partners involved in the claims process.
Mid-Claim Check-ins: Provide high-touch service through regular updates and reassurance to claimants.
Inquiry Management: Respond to routine inquiries and escalate more complex issues when needed.

Qualifications

Experience: Background in administrative support, customer service, or insurance/legal support.
Technical Skills: Comfortable with new tools and high-volume digital filing systems.
Language: Fluent in English (written and verbal) with a professional tone.
Preferred Backgrounds: Paralegals, Logistics Coordinators, or Insurance Assistants are encouraged to apply.

Location: Remote – Open to candidates based in South Africa.
