Brief Job Description:
Performs maintenance and repair of a wide range of process equipment, with a primary focus on fixed equipment, including vessels, tanks, heat exchangers, piping systems, boilers, valves, and related components.

Position Qualification Requirements:
2.1. Education and professional training
Higher professional (technical) or secondary professional (technical) education in one of the following fields: mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering technology, operation and maintenance of machinery and equipment, mechanical equipment of industrial enterprises, maintenance and repair of oil and gas equipment, metalworking, materials science and materials technology, industrial engineering, or related disciplines.
It is preferred that the candidates hold the following certifications: certificate authorizing work with lifting equipment – “overhead and gantry crane operator”; valid electrical safety certificate Grade II.

2.2. Professional knowledge and skills
Must know:
Process equipment and repair

Design, structural features, and operating principles of complex, highly complex, and unique process equipment, including pressure equipment, heat exchangers, vessels, columns, waste heat boilers, piping, and shut-off valves.
Process sequence, methods, and organization of repair activities, including dismantling, inspection and defect identification, refurbishment, assembly, adjustment, testing, and commissioning of equipment.
Technical specifications, design, and operating documentation for the repair, testing, and commissioning of complex and highly complex equipment.
Repair methods for equipment operating under high pressure, as well as methods for restoration of worn and critical parts and assemblies (including modern restoration technologies).
The preventive maintenance (PM) system and equipment maintenance systems at oil refining and oil and gas enterprises.
Fundamentals of metals and materials technology, their properties, and permissible loads on equipment parts, assemblies, and mechanisms.
Procedures for safe execution of work, including the permit-to-work system, HSE, industrial, fire, and gas safety requirements, as well as the emergency response plan action procedures.
Emergency alarm, interlock, and emergency notification systems of process units, as well as the purpose and rules for the use of fire‑fighting equipment and protective equipment.
Causes of process equipment failures and methods for their prevention; principles of troubleshooting and root cause failure analysis, including interaction with engineering and reliability functions.
System of fits and tolerances, tolerance grades, and surface roughness parameters.
Methods of marking out and machining parts of any level of complexity.
Design of lifting equipment and rules for its safe operation.
Isometric drawings; reading diagrams and drawings (P&ID).
Fundamentals of rigging.
Metals technology.

Production processes and safety

Technology of oil and gas production, processing, storage, and transportation at Tengiz Oil and Gas Processing Complex facilities.
Comprehensive knowledge of the permit‑to‑work system and requirements for safe execution of work.
Emergency alarm/interlock and emergency notification systems of process units.
Subsystems within the area of responsibility: HSE instructions, gas and fire protection systems, gas detection systems, fire protection systems, utilities/energy systems; rules for the use of fire‑fighting equipment; fundamentals of HVAC.
Methods of providing first aid, including electric shock, intoxication, and heat stroke.

Must be able to:

Perform maintenance and repair of fixed process equipment (units, vessels, tanks, manifolds, heat exchangers, waste heat boilers / economizers / steam heaters, valves, etc.), ensuring reliable operation of the process unit.
Carry out the full repair cycle: dismantling/disassembly, measurements, inspection and defect identification, repair, assembly, adjustment, testing (accuracy/performance/tightness/correct installation), and commissioning of repaired equipment, with personal verification of proper operation after startup.
Perform hot tapping of pipelines and equipment (depending on complexity level and task scope — from small to large diameters, including work in the field and plant pipelines and manifolds).
Repair and maintain heat‑exchange equipment: dismantling/installation, disassembly, cleaning of components (plates, tube bundle, shell‑side space), repair, assembly, and testing of various types of heat exchangers, including shell‑and‑tube units.
Perform repair and maintenance of pipelines and connections: preparation for welding activities, assembly of flanged joints, thread cutting / work with threaded connections, dismantling and installation of pipeline sections, installation and removal of blinds and isolation devices.
Apply specialized tools and repair methods, including hydraulic / pneumatic / electric tools, flange spreaders, nut cutters, machine tools (drilling / grinding / sharpening), presses, sandblasting / washing equipment, etc.; fabricate or modify components and fixtures required for repair and installation activities.
Identify equipment malfunctions and abnormal operating conditions, determine causes of failures, develop preliminary repair plans; apply process and equipment knowledge to identify root causes and prevent recurring failures in cooperation with reliability specialists.
Define work scope and plan repair activities, select work execution methods (shop or field), ensure productivity and quality of own work group; provide reporting to supervisors and planners / schedulers.
Perform failure analysis and identify root causes of equipment failures.
Make well‑reasoned technical decisions considering operational risks, consequences, and safety requirements.
Organize work activities, develop and train less‑qualified personnel, and perform mentoring functions.
Prepare accurate, structured technical reports, conclusions, and recommendations based on the results of completed work.
Clearly and logically communicate information verbally and in writing when interacting with colleagues and management.
Comply with safety requirements and work procedural discipline: strictly follow repair procedures and recognized standards, correctly apply special work methods, and perform tasks in accordance with the permit‑to‑work system, insurrections, and company requirements.

Work experience:

At least 5 years of hands‑on experience as an equipment repair mechanic at oil and gas facilities, with confirmed experience in unsupervised maintenance and repair, participation in preventive maintenance (PM) activities, and work on operating (live) equipment.
