Senior AV Design Engineer – Data Centre / Enterprise Projects

We are supporting a leading technology systems integrator delivering complex AV, communications, and security solutions across enterprise, government, and mission-critical environments.

They are seeking a Senior AV Design Engineer to take a lead role in delivering high-value, complex projects across the Washington DC region.

The Role

This is a senior, client-facing position responsible for leading the full design lifecycle — from early-stage strategy and concept through to detailed design, delivery oversight, and project completion.

You will act as a technical authority across projects, guiding both internal teams and clients, while ensuring designs are scalable, future-proof, and aligned with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end AV system design across complex, large-scale environments
Own the development of detailed drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
Engage directly with clients to define requirements, advise on best practices, and shape technology strategy
Produce and review cost proposals in collaboration with estimating teams
Provide technical leadership to project managers, engineers, and installation teams throughout delivery
Ensure design integrity is maintained from concept through to implementation and handover
Mentor junior engineers and share best practices across the wider team
Stay ahead of emerging technologies and drive innovation within designs

What We’re Looking For

7+ years’ experience in AV or electronic systems design, with exposure to complex projects
Strong background in design within construction, architecture, or mission-critical environments (data centres, enterprise, etc.)
Advanced proficiency in CAD and technical design documentation
CTS-D (or equivalent) strongly preferred
Proven ability to lead client engagements and manage senior stakeholders
Strong commercial awareness, including experience contributing to bids and proposals
Ability to manage multiple high-value projects simultaneously
