Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Medical Writing Manager to lead end-to-end delivery of scientific and medical communication projects across publications, regulatory, and promotional content.

This role combines scientific leadership, delivery ownership, and client engagement, with accountability for quality, timelines, and compliance (MLR/AMA/ICMJE). The individual will manage multiple programs or accounts, mentor writers, and ensure high-quality, evidence-based deliverables aligned with brand and regulatory expectations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Delivery & Scientific Oversight

Lead end-to-end development of medical and scientific content across formats: manuscripts, abstracts, posters, slide decks, newsletters, and digital assets
Interpret complex clinical and scientific data into clear, accurate, and audience-appropriate communication
Ensure alignment with AMA, ICMJE, GPP guidelines, and client/brand standards
Oversee MLR review and submission processes, ensuring compliance and audit readiness

2. Quality & Governance

Establish and enforce quality benchmarks across deliverables
Perform senior-level reviews, fact-checking, and scientific validation
Drive consistency in messaging, referencing, and formatting
Monitor quality metrics and implement continuous improvement initiatives

3. Team Leadership & Capability Building

Manage and mentor a team of junior, mid-level, and senior medical writers
Allocate work, manage bandwidth, and ensure optimal resource utilization
Support hiring, onboarding, training, and skill development
Provide structured feedback and career development guidance

4. Client & Stakeholder Management

Act as a primary interface for clients, KOLs, and cross-functional stakeholders
Lead scientific discussions, reviewer calls, and workshops
Address escalations related to content, timelines, or interpretation of evidence
Provide strategic input into content planning and communication approach

5. Program & Operations Management

Manage multiple accounts, brands, or therapy areas simultaneously
Ensure on-time delivery while maintaining high-quality standards
Drive process improvements, templates, and workflow efficiencies
Support proposal development and contribute to business growth initiatives

6. Research & Scientific Excellence

Conduct and guide literature searches using tools like PubMed and reference managers
Stay updated with therapeutic area advancements and publication trends
Bring scientific rigor and insight into all deliverables

Candidate Profile

Master’s/PhD in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine, or related field
8–12 years of experience in medical writing, publications, or scientific communications
Proven experience managing publication plans, accounts, or medical communication programs
Strong understanding of publication ethics, authorship guidelines, and compliance frameworks
Experience working in agency/managed services environments preferred
