Position Overview

Our client is the developer and primary strategist behind a landmark international financial center and large-scale urban development in Colombo. They are seeking a highly analytical Financial Analyst / Assistant Manager to join their Strategy Team.

This role sits at the intersection of public policy, capital markets, and large-scale urban development. The successful candidate will deliver rigorous financial analysis, economic modeling, and strategic insights that directly inform policy formulation, anchor investment decisions, and long-term development planning. You will have exposure to senior stakeholders across government, regulatory bodies, global investors, and international advisory firms.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Financial Analysis

Sectoral Research: Conduct macro-financial and sectoral analysis covering banking, financial services, capital markets, fintech, professional services, logistics, and real estate.
Impact Assessment: Assess the economic and fiscal impact of proposed policies, incentive structures, and regulatory frameworks related to the project’s operations.
Complex Modeling: Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models (DCF, scenario, and sensitivity analysis) to evaluate development initiatives and potential anchor investments.

Policy & Planning Support

Incentive Design: Support the design and evaluation of tax frameworks and offshore financial models in alignment with national macroeconomic objectives.
Benchmarking: Analyze global financial center benchmarks to identify best practices and competitive advantages applicable to this development.
Strategic Monitoring: Build and maintain internal databases and dashboards to track the project's progress against strategic milestones.

Data, Research & Insights

Macro Trends: Track and analyze key macroeconomic indicators and global financial market trends.
Investor Appetite: Assess the implications of market shifts on investor appetite and the project’s competitive positioning in the region.

Candidate Profile

Experience & Qualifications

Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of professional experience in financial analysis, strategy consulting, or investment banking.
Education: MBA, Postgraduate qualification in Economics/Finance, or a CFA candidate (Level I or II preferred).
Project Exposure: Prior experience working on large-scale infrastructure, urban development, or projects involving multilateral institutions is highly desirable.
Analytical Skills: Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and the ability to translate complex data into actionable strategic recommendations.
