This role oversees daily import compliance and customs documentation for a premier, asset-based third-party logistics (3PL) provider established in 1986. As a key subsidiary of a world-renowned global conglomerate, the company delivers integrated, end-to-end global supply chain solutions.

As the Compliance Operations Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely preparation and submission of customs entries while managing a team of compliance specialists across multiple regions. Reporting directly to the Department Manager, this position plays a vital role in auditing entries, resolving regulatory issues with CBP/PGA, and aligning operations with billing procedures. Team & Operations Oversight: Manage daily workflows for a cross-regional team of entry writers and supervisors; review and approve timesheets, PTO requests, and annual performance reviews.
Documentation & Submission: Oversee timely customs entry filings via CargoWise, ensuring precise handling of commercial invoices, bills of lading, and packing lists.
Customs Compliance & Audits: Ensure all shipments comply with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and Partner Government Agency (PGA) regulations; conduct entry audits and handle protests/PSCs.
Client & Agency Liaison: Serve as the primary point of contact to resolve customs holds, exams, or issues raised by regulatory agencies; keep clients updated on tariff and regulatory changes.
Financial Coordination: Monitor timely duty payments, review daily/PMS statements, and manage precise billing to clients, ensuring tight alignment between operations and finance.
Staff Training: Lead cross-training initiatives between offices (e.g., Chicago and Long Beach) to optimize staffing during volume surges or PTO.

Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or International Trade preferred.
Experience: Minimum 5–7 years in customs brokerage, import compliance, or international logistics, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with CargoWise software is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Certifications: * CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) certification is preferred.
- U.S. Customs Broker License is preferred but not required.
Competencies: Deep knowledge of HTS classification and PGA requirements; excellent organizational, leadership, and time-management skills under pressure.
