Gigantes Group has been retained by a highly respected, multi-discipline engineering consulting firm to identify a Civil Engineer for their expanding team in the Bay Area.

This role is ideal for an experienced, proactive engineer who wants the tight-knit culture and direct visibility of a focused local team, while enjoying the deep resource network and stability of a major nationwide firm. If you are looking to step out of a rigid corporate silo, take real project ownership, and hit the ground running with hands-on plan production, this platform is built for you.

Key Responsibilities

Project Design & Plan Production: Take a lead role in developing detailed civil engineering plans, grading models, drainage systems, and site layouts for utility-scale BESS, solar facilities, and commercial developments.
Hands-on CAD Mastery: Utilize Civil 3D daily to actively produce high-quality design packages, remaining comfortable working directly inside the model alongside the team.
Renewable Infrastructure Engineering: Navigate the unique design parameters of energy storage layout, including battery cell spacing, equipment clearance profiles, and specialized fire access requirements.
Client & Agency Navigation: Coordinate directly with municipalities, counties, and private developers to push projects seamlessly through local permitting processes.
Team & Project Mentorship: Support a growing, collaborative team by ensuring technical excellence, keeping schedules on track, and mentoring junior engineering staff.

Requirements

Experience: 7 to 12+ years of direct civil design experience, preferentially within an engineering consulting firm or an EPC environment executing direct civil design.
Technical Software: Deep, functional day-to-day proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D is absolutely critical. This is an active production role, not purely high-level management.
Credentials: A registered Professional Engineer (PE) is highly preferred. At an absolute minimum, an EIT (Engineer-in-Training) registration is required, along with a clear trajectory toward securing your PE license.
Industry Exposure: Solid foundational civil engineering background (grading, drainage, utilities). Prior exposure to renewable energy assets is a massive advantage, but a sharp engineering mind ready to conquer the storage sector learning curve is highly welcome.
Location: Must be currently based in or local to the Bay Area (relocation assistance is not offered for this role).

Why This Opportunity

The Sweet Spot Portfolio: Work on massive, high-demand green energy grid assets without losing your foundational roots in commercial and municipal land development.
True Hybrid Flexibility: Enjoy an office model that prioritizes team collaboration without sacrificing balance - requiring 3 days in office with flexible remote work on Mondays and Fridays.
The Best of Both Worlds: Work within a lean, nimble, fast-moving local office environment while benefiting from the robust resource sharing, technical depth, and corporate stability of a large nationwide civil infrastructure network.
Visible Impact: Move out of the background. Your proactivity and technical design ownership will directly drive the expansion and immediate growth of this regional office.
Streamlined Interview Process: No endless corporate hoops.
