Quantity Surveyor
Oxford (hybrid, 2–3 days on site)
Permanent
£70,000–£75,000 + £6,000 car allowance + 8% bonus

Overview

EMBS is working in partnership with a family-owned infrastructure contractor, located near Oxford, that is currently in the market for a Quantity Surveyor to join their company on a permanent basis.

This market leader is a well-established entity marking its 75th year and holds Platinum Investors in People status, with a long history in water. A wastewater framework near Oxford is building out its commercial team, and alongside a more senior appointment there is room for a QS a little earlier in the trade — a strong opportunity to develop somewhere the work is committed for years rather than the length of one job.

What's in it for you?

Stability / Longevity: Committed work for years rather than the length of one job, backed by a family-owned contractor in its 75th year with a long history in water.

Competitive salary: £70,000–£75,000, plus £6,000 car allowance and 8% bonus.

Hours: Days

Benefits: Hybrid working — two to three days on site and remote otherwise, with an office near London or in the Midlands available if you want one. You would also work alongside an experienced Managing QS, learning how a framework is actually run, with a clear route toward owning your own CVRs. The works themselves are worth seeing: phosphorus removal, digestion tanks producing biomass for local farms, and gas generation built in.

Responsibilities

Off the back of a growing commercial team on a committed wastewater framework, our client is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to work alongside an experienced Managing QS and develop toward owning their own packages.

Your responsibilities will include:

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial delivery of the framework while learning how it is run from the ground up, with a clear route toward owning your own CVRs.

You will:

Prepare valuations and applications for payment
Administer subcontractor and supplier accounts through to final account
Manage procurement schedules, support change and keep the records straight
Measure quantities against the standard methods

Successful applicants must be able to demonstrate:

Around 2 to 3 years' commercial experience on infrastructure projects, as an Assistant QS, QS or similar
Subcontract and supply-chain administration, including processing payments
A working knowledge of NEC contracts
A tier-one or major contractor background

Please note: candidates whose experience is JCT-only, maintenance or fit-out will not be the right fit for this particular role.

If you are interested in the opportunity of Quantity Surveyor and believe you meet the illustrated criteria, apply today to join our clients' growing team located near Oxford.
