Head of Global Supply Chain

Salary : $4000-$6000

Schedule: Mon-Weds until 9pm, SA time, then flexible to additional hours to equate 40 hours ( The role offers flexibility in start time, but the candidate must be available until approximately 9:00 PM (South Africa time) on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, while completing a standard 40-hour workweek. The exact daily schedule can be adjusted with the manager, provided the evening coverage is maintained.

As the business continues to scale, they are seeking a Head of Global Supply Chain to lead and evolve their global procurement, planning, and logistics operations while building the systems, processes, and team needed to support long-term growth.

Role Overview

The Head of Global Supply Chain will own the end-to-end global supply chain strategy, overseeing procurement, international logistics, integrated planning, supplier management, and cross-functional operational alignment.

This is both a strategic leadership and hands-on execution role. The successful candidate will build scalable systems, mentor a growing remote team, and collaborate closely with leadership across sales, finance, and operations to ensure the supply chain supports the company's continued growth.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience leading global supply chain functions within fast-paced, entrepreneurial organizations and enjoys building processes that improve efficiency, visibility, and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP)

Lead the company's Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process
Drive alignment across sales, finance, procurement, and operations
Oversee demand planning, supply planning, forecasting, and budgeting activities
Develop scenario planning models to support business decisions
Create dashboards and reporting tools that improve planning accuracy and decision-making
Continuously improve forecasting processes and operational visibility

Procurement Leadership

Oversee daily procurement operations across a global supplier network
Ensure purchase orders are executed accurately and on schedule
Build and maintain strong supplier relationships
Establish supplier performance metrics and review processes
Develop communication cadences and issue resolution procedures for suppliers
Partner with commercial teams to anticipate demand and align procurement strategies
Support customer success by ensuring reliable product availability

Global Logistics Strategy

Lead international logistics operations from purchase order through final delivery
Oversee container management, freight coordination, customs, warehousing, and final-mile delivery
Build and maintain relationships with freight forwarders, logistics providers, and warehouse partners
Develop standard operating procedures for logistics exceptions and escalation processes
Improve visibility into shipments, inventory movement, and logistics costs
Design systems that support efficient transportation planning and cost control
Identify opportunities to improve delivery performance and reduce operational risk

Supply Chain Strategy & Process Improvement

Design scalable supply chain processes that support continued business growth
Evaluate existing workflows and identify opportunities for operational improvement
Build systems that improve efficiency, visibility, and cross-functional collaboration
Establish best practices across procurement, planning, and logistics
Develop long-term supply chain strategies aligned with company growth objectives
Drive continuous improvement initiatives throughout the organization

Technology & Systems

Evaluate and recommend improvements to the company's supply chain technology stack
Support implementation and optimization of ERP, demand planning, transportation management, and related systems
Improve reporting capabilities through automation and data visibility
Develop dashboards and KPIs that support operational decision-making
Ensure systems support scalability and long-term operational excellence

Leadership & Team Development

Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing remote supply chain team
Establish clear performance expectations and accountability
Define KPIs across procurement, logistics, planning, and supplier management
Coach team members while fostering a culture of ownership and continuous improvement
Support hiring and organizational growth as supply chain operations expand
Promote collaboration across departments and geographic regions

Cross-Functional Leadership

Partner closely with sales, finance, sourcing, and executive leadership
Participate in strategic planning discussions related to growth and operational risk
Align supply chain priorities with commercial objectives
Communicate operational risks and opportunities proactively
Serve as a key advisor on supply chain strategy and operational excellence

Required Qualifications

10+ years of global supply chain experience
3–5+ years of senior leadership experience managing teams
Extensive experience across:
- Procurement
- Supply Planning
- Demand Planning
- Global Logistics
- Supplier Relationship Management
Strong understanding of international shipping and global trade operations
Experience managing complex international supplier networks
Demonstrated success building scalable operational processes
Strong analytical and systems-thinking mindset
Experience using data to drive operational decisions
Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
Ability to operate comfortably at both strategic and tactical levels
Experience working within entrepreneurial, high-growth, or rapidly scaling organizations

Experience within:

Experience implementing or optimizing ERP systems
Experience with demand planning and transportation management systems
