Head of Customer Success | AI-Powered Hardware Design Tools

About the company: The company builds tools electrical engineers actually want to use. Its core products, a component library trusted by over 1.5 million engineers and an AI copilot for circuit board design, are built by engineers, for engineers, to cut the tedious parts out of hardware design. The company is YC-backed and seed-stage, with $3.5M in ARR that has doubled since its 2023 seed round. The company works with long-standing enterprise customers and has proven product-market fit. The team is small, 3 full-time employees plus international contractors, and is based in San Francisco.

This is a ground-floor opportunity to build the entire post-sales function from scratch, with direct access to the founders and outsized influence on company direction.

What you'll do:

Own the full customer journey end to end. Handle onboarding, relationship management, QBRs, renewals, and expansion across enterprise accounts.
Build the Customer Success function where none exists today. Create playbooks, health scoring, and scalable processes from the ground up.
Work as a player-coach. Personally manage enterprise relationships and drive renewals and upsell revenue, not just oversee a team.
Handle technical support and automate it. Resolve customer tickets directly and build AI agents to triage and automate repetitive support work.
Drive commercial growth through account expansion. Balance consultative, trusted partnerships with clear upsell targets.
Plan the team's growth. Identify where the function needs to scale, such as technical account managers or forward-deployed engineers, then hire and lead that team.

What they're looking for:

5+ years leading a Customer Success team, ideally at a small or seed-stage company
A track record of building a CS function from 0 to 1 at an early-stage company (under 50 employees), not just managing an established team
Strong player-coach ability with personal revenue ownership on renewals and upsell, not only strategic oversight
Experience with a technical product and clear commercial acumen
Demonstrated use of AI-powered automation in a CS workflow
A scrappy, builder mentality suited to a seed-stage environment

Compensation: $170k-$220k OTE (80/20 base/variable split) plus equity. Hybrid, 3 days per week in San Francisco. Not open to visa sponsorship (US citizens or Green Card holders only).
