A bit about us 🏡

Athyna is a platform that helps companies hire exceptional talent from around the world with AI precision and a human-first approach. We’re not a recruitment agency. We manage the entire hiring journey, from sourcing and vetting to matching, onboarding, and global compliance, making it easy for companies to build high-performing remote teams without the usual hiring headaches.

We're also a fully remote, globally distributed team ourselves. We believe great work isn't limited by geography, and neither are great careers. Our culture is built around trust, ownership, curiosity, and kindness, creating an environment where talented people can do their best work together.

And it's working. With an engagement score of 91.5% (yes, seriously), we don’t just talk culture, we live it.

Job description 📜

As a mid-level Product Engineer, you would be working inside the Product & Engineering team at Athyna, managed by our Product & Engineering Lead. It would mean that you would own full-stack features end-to-end across our platform, collaborate directly with product and design by having a deep input into the shape of what gets built, while also helping raise the bar on code quality and engineering practices as our team grows.

Key responsibilities 🎯

Build and ship full-stack features across the Athyna platform, focusing on owning features end-to-end: participate in scoping, push back on requirements that don't make sense, implement, test, deploy, and monitor outcomes post-launch.
Instrument new features with PostHog (events, funnels, feature flags, A/B tests) and use that data to inform what gets improved next.
Write and optimize complex PostgreSQL queries via Prisma, thinking carefully about data modeling as the platform scales.
Integrate and build on top of third-party APIs (LLMs, job boards, ATS systems, and more) to extend platform capabilities.
Review pull requests and raise the bar on code quality, performance, and test coverage across the team.
Use AI tools actively to move faster without cutting corners.
Proactively identify and address tech debt, performance bottlenecks, and reliability issues before they become urgent.
Perform ad hoc duties and project work as required.

The successful applicant 🙋🏻

English at a near-native level (oral and written).
3–4 years of experience shipping production software at a product company, added points if it’s not an agency or consultancy.
Strong proficiency in React and TypeScript, including component architecture, state management, and performance optimization.
Solid backend experience with Node.js and PostgreSQL. You understand relational data modeling, can write complex queries, and know when an index will save you.
Experience with REST API design, third-party API integrations, and owning deployments in production.
Comfortable writing tests (unit, integration) and treating them as a first-class part of the job.
Strong analytical problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and project management skills.
Ability to thrive in a dynamic startup environment; you'll have guidance when you need it, but you're also goal-oriented and can execute independently.
Willingness to collaborate and assist whenever, wherever needed.
Familiarity with Next.js, Prisma, PostHog, or Railway is a strong plus.
Being comfortable exploring user behavior data and having discussions revolve around metrics
Experience building with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) or shipping AI-powered features is a strong plus.
