Residential HVAC Estimator – New Construction (Tract & Custom)

About the Company

We are an established, reputable U.S.-based residential HVAC contractor serving a major Texas metro, with a strong service reputation built over decades and a growing new-construction division. Our new-construction pipeline is a fast-paced, high-volume mix of production/tract housing developments and high-end, luxury custom homes. As that division scales, we are building out a dedicated remote estimating function to support our U.S. field and sales teams.

About the Role

This role exists to add estimating capacity and speed to a growing new-construction pipeline. You will be the engine behind our bids, producing fast, accurate take-offs for high-volume tract work while handling the technical precision required for complex, multi-zone custom systems. You will work remotely alongside our U.S.-based team, who will handle all on-site field verification and feed you the plans, photos, and field notes you need to bid accurately. Success in this role is measured by turnaround speed, estimate accuracy, and bid competitiveness, not time in an office.

Key Responsibilities

High-Volume Tract Estimating (majority of the role)

Produce rapid, accurate material take-offs and cost estimates for high-volume residential developments using established master pricing sheets.
Maintain consistency and speed across repeat plans and builder master programs.

Custom System Design

Perform full load calculations and system designs for custom residential builds using variable-speed technology and advanced zoning.
Translate architectural plans into buildable, value-engineered mechanical designs.

Code & Technical Compliance

Run complete Manual J (load), Manual S (equipment), and Manual D (duct) calculations.
Apply Texas energy codes (IECC) and relevant municipal requirements to ensure compliant designs. (Reference materials and internal review provided.)

Builder & Vendor Collaboration

Coordinate with production builder purchasing agents and custom home builders to clarify scope, value-engineer systems, and finalize bids.
Communicate clearly and proactively with the U.S. team across time zones.

Remote Field Coordination

Review field conditions, framing challenges, and duct-routing feasibility using plans, photos, and video walkthroughs provided by the on-site U.S. team. (No physical site visits required.)

Required Qualifications

3+ years estimating residential HVAC systems for new construction.
Proficiency with ACCA-approved load calculation software (e.g., Wrightsoft, Elite Software) and digital take-off tools.
Strong working knowledge of major residential HVAC brands (Carrier, Trane, Lennox) and variable-capacity or multi-zone systems.
Confident running Manual J, S, and D calculations independently.
Strong written and verbal English and reliable overlap with U.S. Central Time hours.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience estimating for U.S. residential new construction.
Familiarity with U.S. energy codes / IECC (Texas-specific a plus; willingness and ability to learn our local requirements is essential).
Experience supporting both high-volume production work and custom design in the same role.
