Role: Bookkeeper
Location: Latin America
Working Hours: Monday-Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM US Eastern Time
Target Start Date: ASAP (Urgent Hiring)

The final offer is at the client’s discretion and will depend on the candidate’s interview result, skills, and experience.

About the Company: The company provides fractional CFO and client accounting services designed to give established businesses clear financial data and strategic guidance.

About the Role: We are seeking a proactive, communicative, and forward-thinking Senior Bookkeeper to join our growing team. Unlike traditional BPO environments that rely on rigid scripts and constant hand-holding, we value critical thinking, proactive problem-solving, and professional ownership.

In this role, you will manage day-to-day bookkeeping across a diverse client portfolio—ranging from CPG, retail, and e-commerce to tech and service-oriented businesses. You will work directly with our US-based Controller, take initiative to drive client deliverables forward, and engage in clear, direct communication. As the company continues to expand, this role offers room to elevate your scope toward Assistant Controller responsibilities and FP&A support over time

Key Responsibilities:

Day-to-Day Bookkeeping & Month-End Close

Own and execute the full-cycle bookkeeping process for 15–20 diverse client accounts (CPG, e-commerce, retail, services, tech).
Maintain accurate general ledgers, perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations, and process journal entries and accruals.
Ensure accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) are accurate, timely, and organized.
Execute clean, timely monthly close workflows to produce reliable financial statements.

Proactive Problem-Solving & Workflow Ownership

Exercise strong critical thinking to navigate gray areas, investigate discrepancies, and identify solutions independently before escalating.
Take full ownership of task execution without waiting for constant step-by-step instruction or micromanagement.
Suggest workflow improvements, accounting tools, or best practices to help streamline client reporting and internal processes.

Collaboration & Client Communication

Work side-by-side with our US-based Controller to review book accuracy, tag-team workload, and ensure seamless client coverage.
Provide clear, professional, and proactive updates via email (and occasional live interaction) to maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external clients.
Demonstrate strong responsiveness and follow-through on all assigned deliverables and deadlines.

Tech, AI & Systems

Work extensively within QuickBooks Online and integrate core plug-ins/add-ons for inventory, payments, and reporting.
Comfortable leveraging AI tools (such as Claude or ChatGPT) and modern automated accounting platforms to speed up data workflows and build efficient Excel schedules.
Support light tax-awareness tasks, such as assisting with sales tax software implementations (e.g., TaxJar) or organizing payroll tax records across various states (including complex markets like California).

Qualifications & Skills

3+ years of hands-on accounting/bookkeeper experience, preferably supporting US-based clients or small-to-midsize businesses.
Strong Accounting Fundamentals: Expert understanding of double-entry bookkeeping, general ledger maintenance, and financial statement structures.
Proactive Mindset: Self-driven with excellent critical thinking skills; comfortable taking initiative and working through ambiguous scenarios.
Software Proficiency: Highly proficient with QuickBooks Online and standard modern accounting tech stacks.
Excel & Automation Savvy: Solid working knowledge of Excel (formulas, pivot tables, schedules) and an appetite to incorporate AI tools like Claude to streamline workflows.
Excellent Communication: Strong written and spoken English, with the confidence to communicate clearly and professionally with clients and team members.
US Market & Tax Familiarity: General awareness of US sales tax nuances and multi-state payroll/compliance environments is a strong plus.
US Schedule Alignment: Able to consistently work 9 AM – 5 PM US Eastern Time.
