Considering a career in recruitment but not sold on the typical agency culture?

That's exactly why we started Hires Group. We're an Exeter startup doing things differently: more listening, less pressure. We've doubled the size of our team every year since launching in 2024, and we're looking for ambitious, motivated people to join us for the next stage. No recruitment experience needed. We'll teach you everything.

You'll join as a Recruitment Consultant and learn the ropes through our training programme, with a personalised development plan and ongoing coaching from our CEO from day one. You'll run your own searches, speak to top talent and build your own desk in the US market, all while earning uncapped commission with top tiers reaching 40%. Realistic OTE is £38k–£48k in your first year and £60k–£74k in your second.

What you'll be doing

Building a solid understanding of our specialist markets (civil engineering and life sciences) so you can speak to people with confidence
Sourcing and matching talent using LinkedIn, job ads and our CRM
Writing personalised outreach that feels authentic (we don't do spam here!) and having purposeful conversations with candidates
Screening candidates over the phone and video to understand their skills, motivations and what they're looking for next
Presenting shortlisted candidates to clients and supporting them through the interview process
Taking a proactive approach to finding new opportunities for your candidates, building towards managing your own client relationships

What we offer

£26,325 base salary plus uncapped commission with no threshold (the same scheme for everyone, directors included, rising to 40% at the top tier)
Realistic OTE of £38k–£48k in your first year and £60k–£74k in your second
30 days' holiday plus bank holidays
Hybrid working, flexible start and finish times, and up to two weeks working remotely or abroad each year
Structured onboarding, hands-on coaching and clear progression as we grow
A modern laptop and the tools you need to do the job well (including a new top-of-the-line coffee machine, which our team said was very important to include…)
A say in the office Spotify playlist (within reason)

We're looking for someone who:

Actively listens and can hold a confident conversation with highly talented professionals
Writes thoughtful messages that sound human and personal
Is resilient and sees setbacks as part of the learning journey
Is comfortable working towards sales targets
Is motivated, willing to learn and open to feedback

Where you can go
Once you've completed your training, you'll move on to building your own B2B client relationships. We see every hire as a potential future business leader, and each person has a clear career path mapped out.

About Hires Group
Our leadership team started out in recruitment as trainees themselves, so we know what it's like to be new to the industry, and we know how much it has changed since. Before founding Hires Group, our CEO and COO led a multi-million-pound recruitment business and trained hundreds of consultants along the way. We want to do things differently and step away from the high-pressure culture you'll find at many agencies. That goes beyond how we treat our team: we reached net zero in our first year, and we commit 2% of our profits to charities such as the Woodland Trust and Texas Children's Hospital.
We believe work should be a place where your contribution matters, your skills are developed and your hard work is rewarded. If that sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you. Send us your CV, and feel free to include your top Spotify recommendation.
