AD System Integration & Performance Engineer

Role Overview

The AD System Integration & Performance Engineer will lead the integration, optimization, and performance analysis of autonomous driving software stacks on Linux‑based embedded platforms. Collaboration with robotics, perception, planning, and hardware teams will ensure the system meets stringent real‑time and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Design, integrate, and validate autonomous driving software components on Linux/RTOS platforms.
Perform low‑level performance profiling using tools such as Perf, Perfetto, Ftrace, LTTng, and custom instrumentation.
Optimize CPU, memory, I/O, and networking subsystems for real‑time workloads.
Develop and maintain Python and Shell scripts for system automation, testing, and debugging.
Collaborate cross‑functionally with perception, planning, control, and hardware engineering teams to resolve integration issues.
Implement and refine task scheduling, thread management, and process management strategies to meet latency targets.
Lead root‑cause analysis of system‑level failures and propose robust mitigation strategies.
Document performance baselines, regression results, and best‑practice guidelines for the wider engineering organization.
Stay current with emerging Linux kernel features, real‑time extensions, and performance‑analysis frameworks.

Essential Qualifications

Bachelor’s (minimum) or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related field.
5+ years of professional experience in Linux system development and performance engineering.
Strong proficiency in C++ and Python programming.
Deep understanding of real‑time systems, thread management, task scheduling, and memory management on Linux.
Hands‑on experience with performance analysis tools: Perf, Perfetto, Ftrace, LTTng, and related tracing frameworks.
Proven ability to troubleshoot complex system‑level issues, including networking, I/O, and process management.
Experience with shell scripting (Bash) for automation and debugging.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in cross‑functional teams.

Desired Experience & Skills

Autonomous driving systems development or integration.
Robotics middleware (e.g., ROS) and vehicle control algorithms.
Advanced Linux kernel development, custom driver integration, and real‑time patch sets.
Performance tuning of multi‑core processors and heterogeneous computing platforms.
