Autonomous Driving Simulation Validation Engineer (JD102)

Job Overview

The Autonomous Driving Simulation Validation Engineer will lead the design, development, and execution of closed‑loop simulation tests that validate perception, planning, prediction, and control algorithms for an autonomous truck platform. This role sits at the intersection of robotics, software engineering, and data analysis, ensuring that AI‑driven vehicle control systems meet the highest safety and performance standards before real‑world deployment.

Key Responsibilities

Develop, maintain, and expand a closed‑loop simulation framework for ADAS and autonomous driving validation.
Design and implement realistic driving scenarios, including edge‑case and corner‑case situations, using scenario development tools and parameter handling.
Integrate APIs from perception, planning, prediction, and control stacks into the simulation environment.
Execute regression testing campaigns, generate metric calculations, and produce comprehensive validation reports.
Analyze log data, perform root‑cause analysis, and recommend improvements to algorithmic performance.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (software, hardware, safety, product) to define test plans and acceptance criteria.
Automate test pipelines with Python scripting, Git version control, and Linux‑based CI/CD tools.
Maintain documentation of test cases, scenario libraries, and validation procedures.
Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of validation processes.

Essential Qualifications

Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
Strong proficiency in Python scripting for test automation and data analysis.
Hands‑on experience with ADAS, autonomous driving stacks, and closed‑loop simulation environments.
Proven ability to work with Linux operating systems, Git version control, and API integration.
Solid understanding of perception, planning, prediction, and vehicle control algorithms.
Expertise in scenario development, parameter handling, and metric calculation for validation.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret log files and perform regression testing.
Strong communication skills in English; Japanese language proficiency is a plus.

Desired Experience

3+ years of experience in robotics system validation or autonomous vehicle simulation.
Experience with simulation tools such as CARLA, LGSVL, or custom closed‑loop simulators.
Background in data analysis, log analysis, and performance metric reporting.
Exposure to safety standards (ISO 26262, SAE J3016) and validation reporting for autonomous systems.
Previous work in a fast‑paced deep‑tech or startup environment, preferably within the automotive or logistics sector.
