What if your next move gave you ownership of the numbers, a voice in the business, and the chance to shape a role that’s never existed before?

Some finance roles give you control.

Some give you commercial influence.

Some give you a team to lead.

This one gives you all three.

I'm working on a newly created Senior Accounting Manager opportunity within a large, multi-site UK business going through a significant finance transformation.

And it's not just another title on your CV.

Here's why it caught my attention.

A role you can genuinely make your own

There’s no predecessor’s playbook to follow. The business is changing how finance operates, and this role is a key part of that journey. You’ll have real scope to influence how things are done, improve processes and raise standards.

Technical ownership AND commercial influence

You’ll own the accounting cycle, divisional P&L and balance sheet, financial controls and working capital. But you won’t be tucked away producing numbers for someone else to interpret.

You’ll also work directly with operational leaders, challenge performance, influence decisions and make sure finance is helping the business move forward, not simply explaining what happened last month.

A team to lead, develop and be proud of

This is proper people leadership. You’ll coach and develop a divisional accounting team, build capability and create a high-performance culture while the wider function evolves.

A platform for your next career move

The role brings together controllership, commercial finance, operational partnering and transformation. That breadth gives you exposure to senior leadership and opens up different potential routes for future development.

Work with people who will stretch you

You’ll report to an experienced finance leader with a background spanning blue-chip businesses, commercial finance and divisional P&L ownership. The wider leadership team is bringing fresh thinking and higher expectations to the function.

Who might this suit?

A qualified accountant with strong technical foundations, experience in a multi-site environment and the commercial confidence to challenge operational leaders.

Someone who enjoys improving processes rather than accepting them as they are. Who wants to build a team, influence decisions and take ownership of something broader than a traditional accounting role.

Automotive experience could be useful, but the bigger question is whether you understand complex, multi-site businesses and can balance robust financial control with commercial judgement.

The practical details:

Salary: c£75,000-£85,000 basic, plus bonus and company car
Location: Yorkshire base, with flexibility on location for the right person
Working arrangements: Just 1-2 days a month in the office, alongside travel to the sites within your division
Opportunity: Newly created role within an ongoing finance transformation

The business name is confidential at this stage, but I can share more privately.

If you’re ready for a role where you can own the detail, influence the bigger picture and help shape what good looks like, get in touch for a confidential conversation.

And if you’re not actively looking but this sounds like the sort of move you’d consider for the right opportunity, we’d still love to hear from you.
